I am buying a new Savage 10FP-LE1 in .308 with 20" barrel if it comes in this week. The dealer just told me today that the receiver has changed on the new models with the accu-trigger. Instead of being flat at the rear and rounded at the front of receiver it is now rounded at both ends. I was going to use my old scope bases from old Savage 10, but now I have a problem. The dealer says that the rifles are so new that I will have to shop around for scope bases or buy two sets of Weaver bases for the old model 10 and just the use the two front bases both of which are rounded. Has anyone else encountered this on the new Savage. Surely, Weaver or Leupold will have bases by now. If I do have to use two Weaver front bases will everything line up as to height. Since I have not seen the rifle yet I do no really know what the receiver looks like. I also wonder why Savage changed the receiver, if they did? If anyone has any info I would appreciate it. Thanks-

I plan to use a base from Ken Farrell. link

I think Badger Ord. also has bases for the new reciever.

I've heard that two of the standard front Weaver type bases you mention will also work. This method will be much cheaper than the others.

I spoke to Leupold the other day and they said that they should have the Standard bases ready within a couple of weeks. I was asking about the QRW which he said there were no plans to produce for the new rifle.

Good Luck

Savage Scope Bases

RTownsend-

Thanks for the reply. That sort of clears up what I was wondering about. I saw the bases at Farrell and they look great. I will probably opt for Weaver bases as they are readily available and I had no problem with them on old rifle. I do appreciate your time in answering. Now I know what I am getting into.

get 2 of what they say fits the front (curved) base. I'm pretty sure I got 2 Weaver #46, could be off on the number, but they are definatly what was listed for the front, and they are the same front and back now.

(I just got a new .308 FP10 and went through this)
