I recently bought a used Ruger 22/45 pistol. It came with one magazine, no box, and no paperwork. The intention is to use it for ".22 Night" competitions at my local range, for which I'll need at least two more magazines.

According to the serial number guide on Ruger's web site, my 22/45 is a Mark II, manufactured in 2001. I see that CDNN has 22/45 Mark III magazines available for what seems to be a decent price.

The question:

Will the Mark III 22/45 magazines fit my Mark II model?

TIA

No, Ruger even has different part numbers for them. Look around, the Mark II magazines are not hard to find and are usually around $17.

Later,
Chrome...

Nope. They're different, unfortunately. MK II's have a european-style mag release on the bottom, while the MK III's have the standard push-button type on the side of the frame next to the trigger guard.

Also, I believe the angles of the mags/mag wells are slightly different.

Mine definitely has the mag release up next to the trigger, but remember ... this is a 22/45 Mark II, not a standard Mark II.

However, I did see that Ruger's web site listed different part numbers for the Mk II and Mk III 22/45s. I guess (wishful thinkin) I was hoping there was some cosmetic difference but secretly I'd find out they interchange.

So much for wishful thinking.

Ah, my bad. Missed the 22/45 part. But yea, otherwise my comment holds true, unfortunately.;)

Incidentally - how do you like the 22/45? I have a standard MK III, and it's a lot of fun.

I'm still on dial-up out here in the boonies, so I'm not downloading the manual, but thanks for the idea. I called Ruger and they're sending me a fresh copy. As long as I had them on the phone, I also ordered a pair of magazines. That'll hold me until Christmas, I guess.

Kingpin, I haven't shot it yet. I just picked it up a bit over a week ago, and promptly sprained my back pretty severely so I haven't been to the range since I got it. I'm looking forward to trying it -- the one I got has a bull barrel and an adjustable rear sight. With that setup even I should be able to hit something.
