I'm ashamed to admit I don't know if the 22/45 magazines for the new 22/45 lightweight will work in the non 22/45 Mk IIs and IIIs.

Would replacing baseplates for the standard older mags allow them to function in the 22/45 LW?:scrutiny:

The magazines for my Standard and Mark II non-.22/45 won't fit either of my .22/45s or vice versa, but I never thought about switching the base plates.

I belive the location of the magazine catch slot is in a different location on the 22/45 magazines verses the Mk ll/lll side catch mags

I've used older 22/45 mags in a newer MkIII by changing the base plates-----the only difference in the mags is the base plate---take that back--- the newer mags also have a cut out by the feed lips for the mag disconnect----but I removed that the day I bought the gun---so my converted old style 22/45 mags work just fine in my MkIII.

Now if these are MkII mags--it won't work in either a 22/45 or MkIII due to the mag catch.

MkIII mags will work in a MkII with the heel mag catch.

Make sence?

The Ruger 22/45 exists because its grip angle duplicates that of the M1911. The non 22/45s have a different grip angle, and magazines for a 22/45 will not fit.

Unless you swap out the baseplates. The 22/45 magazine doesn't insert parallel to the grip, either. It's angled internally.
