Here is my early christmas present for myself, Ruger 22/45 mark III with threaded barrel. I will probably start carrying this thing more just because I can practice with it as much as I want too and it wont hurt my wallet too much, I know I can shoot 525 rounds in one practice session and get very familiar with it, can't do that with my glock 23 or 1911!!the cheapest i can get a 500 rounds of 40 cal is $ 120 and I am not rich enough to finish it in one session!.I know somebody will say 22lr is not enough but so far nobody coming forward to be my live target..CCI stinger or velocitor is what i will load it with when I carry it..

me trying it with my can..

If it is accurate and reliable I don't see a problem carrying it. In the event of a self defense situation shot placement is important but as you implied, practice makes perfect.

Nice looking gun, looking to get one of those for myself soon.

I love that gun, just got one a few weeks ago. I can shoot it all day and not worry about going broke :D

Congratulations on your 22/45! Mine sees quite a bit of range time and is one of my very favorite pistols. As mentioned it's easy on the wallet and won't break the bank when you have it out for some range time.

9 secs 20 rounds..

I'm trying to see how fast I can shoot (accurately)on this video the fastest i got was 20 shots in 9 seconds, my goal is to do it with in 6 to 7 seconds..more practice and yes i love shooting this 22/45 my GSG1911 is getting some needed R&R for now after 23,000 rounds down the range..

My 22/45 is the one gun that goes to the range every time I do. Easy to justify buying one. The savings in ammo will pay for the gun. They came out with the wood grips just after I bought mine. I got some 1911 grips and hollowed them out with a dremel so they would fit over the plastic molded grips. Screw them in and you're good to go.

Thanks for the comments guys...just got a 22/45 and am waiting to get it to the range. Glad you guys like the gun...

Thanks for the post. Picking up my first Ruger (22/45) Wed after my 3 days :) Can't wait to get to the range!

Oh yeah, first post. Been reading for years, finally registered. Thanks for all the good reading!

BTW if you remove the mag disconnector and shim the hammer bushing (or replace it with the MKII bushing) the mags will drop out of the gun and you can save a second or two... plus it improves trigger pull, GREATLY simplifies disassembly etc.

I have a 22/45 Mk. II, great pistol. The more magazines you have, the more fun you have shooting.

Mine too goes with me everytime I go to the range. Whenever I feel myself starting to flinch when shooting, the MKIII comes out to settle me down.

Bull barrel version

Mine is the bull barrel version (22/45 MKIII), and I find it fantastic! Any suggestions as to where to buy magazines for it? Thanks.

Nice gun!

I've been checking them out a lot lately. Does the model with removable grips accept 1911 grips, even with a little modification?

The MK-series are great guns. I love my MKIII, so accurate. Now you just need a red dot!
