So I got a new 4.5 inch Pac-Lite receiver for one of my Mark IIs. I put a small thin coating of gun grease inside the chamber and around the bolt. Installed the Pac-Lite and thats where I am at now.

I haven't had a chance to fire it yet, but I figured I would do some hand cycling just to be sure it feeds and ejects correctly.

So I filled up some magazines, and I am getting multiple FTE issues with each mag. The gun jams up with one round in the barrel ready to go, and another round trying to be ejected.

I thought it might be me not cycling the bolt fast enough so I tried the same test with another bone stock Mark II using the same magazine and the same rounds. I got maybe one FTE with the other Mark II. One isn't nearly as bad as the Pac-Lite Mark II.

Any ideas? Should I be worried?

Well, perhaps chamber wasn't the correct word. I put a very thin amount around the rear part of the bolt. This is because the metal bolt makes direct sliding contact with the metal inside of the upper receiver. It isn't much grease, its not caked on or anything like that. Just a small bit to ease the friction between the rear part of the bolt and the part of the receiver that the rear of the bolt slides against. Again, a very small amount, practically nothing....

If it were mine, I would still clean it off and start over. I've never oiled or greased the any part of the bolt area in my MK III, and it works just fine. No excessive wear & tear. Now, I can't speak for the Pac-Lite reciever, but I'd imagine that any wear would be minimal at best.

Also, you gotta think - .22's are dirty little suckers. Any kind of lube (especially grease) inside the reciever/bolt area stands a good chance of getting pretty filthy, pretty fast. I would venture a guess that dragging all that back and forth through the gun is going to be worse for it in the long run than any wear that develops would be.

When I hand cycle my MKIII, it acts weird as well. But I have only had one issues. After about 500 rounds at the range I had one FTE.

The more oil/grease....the more carbon/powder build up.
It is my understanding that these MK's don't need that much oil. I use just a light coat of oil.
