LCP .380 In California

Regarding the Ruger LCP .380…

Does anyone know, is there some inherent physical characteristic that would keep the pistol from passing the California “drop test”?

OR

has Ruger simply chosen at this time NOT to submit it for the testing?

I’d like one. Or two! What a great graduation gift! ;-)

I could be wrong, but just reading posts on the subject of California qualified pistols it seems more and more firearm manufacturers are less inclined to get into the "dog and pony show" that is required to get a particular firearm certified in the wacko state.

California appears to continually change the rules of the game in that area, and constantly add new ones..

I think many times, especially in a firearm small enough to be practical for conceal carry, it's difficult to meet the stiff California requirements, the attitude of the folks who make the call as to what is and what is not OK for Kali are, for the most part, "anti-gun", and basically the whole process is costly, and a pain in the butt..

I should think at some point MOST manufacturers would simply refuse to sell any firearms in the state of California and maybe the "silent majority" of reasonable California "gun owners, or gun owner wannabe's" would vote the wackos out at the ballot box.

It "appears" to me, and I could be wrong, that the whole State of reasonable people is run by 3 "anti-everything normal types" in San Fran and you guys let them get away with it.

I know that's a simplification, but from this side of the U.S. it certainly appears that way.

I simply cannot believe there are more "anti"'s by count in California than there are supporters of the 2nd Amendment, but according to the results of every bit of legislation that comes out of California there must be.

Crap, don't mean to offend Kali folks, but every time I read anything coming out of California remotely involving firearms it's from the "anti's"..:banghead:

Best Wishes,

komifornia

I would say that Ruger never even gave komifornia a thought when they designed the lcp. To many features would have had to be on that little gun which would have thrown it out of the $250 price category and probalby would have even lost them some sales for a gun that was over designed to comform to komifornia. Screw that state and one other on the east coast here.

It's not just a 'drop test', it's also validation that anything coming in to be sold has to have a magazine disconnect and a loaded chamber indicator.

Glad I managed to get away from there!

The only way I see things ever changing are for manufacturers to refuse to sell to ANYone in California as at least one manufacturer has, if I recall. Only then will the issue get enough attention from the right people.

Ruger never bothered to submit for California testing, the LCP can't possibly pass the overall picture.

If Ruger really did dis the California market....I say good for them.
California needs to sink or swim on the issue of liberty.
If more and more companies (not just gun makers) start doing this.....then maybe more people will wake up and realize " the tail doesn't wag the dog"

Revolution....its good for you....

I've been looking for a photo of the LCP with the slide locked back. Anyone have any nice pictures they'd like to share? Thanks.

Its raining here but I had to run up to the range and see how this LCP works.
I ran two mags each, Remington 95gr and American Eagle 95gr.
No problems at all.
All hit the target at 20 feet. The trigger is a bit heavy, but all in all , it a nice little gun.
