Ruger LCP .380?

I've fired it, and I liked it so much I ordered one for myself. I think it'd be a great small-handed-women gun. I would also suggest checking out the Kel-tec P3-AT. It is essentially the exact same gun. The Ruger is the copycat gun.

Three in the family; mine, wife's and my son has one at his house.

A very concealable pocket pistol with better finish than the <cough> similar pistol by the other maker.

All three of ours seem pretty forgiving about ammo with one exception. They don't seem to like MagTech at all; 1 FTF in nearly every magazine. Had a bit of a problem with one pistol using the Remington/UMC 88gr HPs too; they fed out of the mag but sometimes the slide would be barely out of battery and thus no shot. Other two pistols were 100% with the same ammo.

I don't think I've had any FTF issues with any FMJ other than the MagTech.

But S&B, XTP, Golden Saber, PMC, WWB all seem to run through with no problems. I corresponded with Ruger and they will take them back and work on them but I'm not too worried about it. As I said, with most ammo they are 100%. For carry, I'm alternating Golden Sabers with FMJ S&B, two rounds that are 100% in all three guns.

Sights are pretty basic as on most pistols like this. A little dab of white nail polish on the front improved things significantly but I still long for "real" sights.

We all have big hands but recoil doesn't seem (to me) to be bothersome at all.

yup

mine has 1350 flawless rounds through it. Loves golden sabre 102 gr hp and corbon dpx. nice gun..

It's not about whether it's a woman's carry gun, it's about the complete lack of grip adjustability on most autoloaders. That is changing.

Plenty of women shoot XD's, 1911's, Glocks of all types, revolvers, and such. The 1911A1 was especially modified just to shorten the trigger reach for smaller hands. Browning got that wrong. And as I have learned from other pistols, weight and size of the grip have more to do with perceived recoil. Many posters talk about inheriting their P3AT/LCP's because the wife/gf/so thought recoil was too snappy for them. They went to a bigger gun.

Have her shoot it and decide. It's bad enough in the military to be handed a weapon that just doesn't fit right because it was issue. No one in civilian life should have to suffer with someone else's decision.

You have to handle it and shoot it to really determine if its a fit. Mine hates Remington UMC for some reason. Every firearm is ultimately a compromise, the LCP\3AT trades convenient size for other things, like comfort, recoil good grip sights yada yada.

For most\many (forum users major gun-nuts aside :p) it really is a "carry often, shoot little" type gun. I wish the .380 were cheaper yikes.

I wish I picked one up when they were $300 :(. 'Cute' little gun, and decent for someone with small hands.

Cute Little LCP

Well I'll tell you what is really interesting about this little gun.
Taking it to your shooting range (back yard if u live in the country)
And stretch the range out there a ways it will really surprise you.
Cause it's an itty bitty gun don't think you have to be right up on your target.
It's easy as heck to hold on the target cause it's like pointing your finger.
I won't tell you how far I stretched it out and was still hitting a 4" paper pie plate.
So get out there and try it :neener:
"I DID"
