I think this will probably be my favorite short range whitetail deer hunting rifle this season. I just bought it a couple of days ago and have not shot it yet.

Ruger 77/44 magnum with a 1.5 x 4.5 Weaver scope...

Nice. I'd be interested in reading a range report after you shoot it.

Now you've got to find a scabbard for the tractor...

Nice find. I always want to get one too. Is this 18" barrel?

Yes Pat, it is an 18" barrel. Overall length is 38" and weight as pictured with scope and rings is 6 lbs. and 12 oz.

I like it being so light. Compared to some of my other hunting rifles, this one feels like a feather.

Nice pictures I have been thinking about getting one as a first deer rifle for my son when he gets old enough to start hunting. I have a CZ carbine in 7.62x39 and love it for the woods, but I think that the extra bullet weight and diameter will be a better deer stopper out to 100 yards and the range is limited if he misses.

Nice find. I have a 77/44 All Weather. It is my favorite knock around-woods bumming rifle. I put a 4x shotgun scope on top of mine. Its one handy little carbine.

I wished Ruger would bring these back and offer them in a few more calibers. .357Mag, .41Mag and .45Colt would make good companions to good sixguns gun in those calibers. Ruger would sell more than a few if they chambered one in .454Casull also.:D

My favorite gun

This platform is one of my favorites, and I was saddened when Ruger discontinued it. To those on the fence about getting a 77/44, dont walk, run! Get one where ever they may be found. Scour the web and the local shops if you have to.

I am particularly fond of the stainless version. My wife has tried hard to claim this one as her own :D

This particular beauty was made by SRT in Arizona.

Now that's a great idea...I'd love to have one in .454 Casull :what:

Can't say that I blame her for trying or you for not giving in. Those suppressed ones are impressive to say the least.

thats a beautiful rifle (the first one) i would want one of those myself xD

(kinda like the "classic" feel of it, you know the whole wood thing and all...)
