I just found out that there's a ranch in 450 bushmaster I bet that would be a good brush gun I'm not ballistically Informed on that round and it isn't at my lgs. I think I'll go with the 300blk I think it will supress well in the backyard and I have a plethora of 308 bullets I'm sure the 125hr nosler BT will do just fine until I order the 110gr monolithic bullets, does the 150gr surplus fmj supress well I'm sure it will I have a ton of those in a bucket

.300 B/O is a good choice and with 125 grain bullets try 5.4 grains of Trail Boss, very quiet suppressed.

I just found a store that has trailboss I literally prayed for the opportunity to find it around here and as soon as I prayed I found it (same happened with a lost cz trigger return spring) oh and btw my pastor g-paw said that's ok haha as one sided as it is. I load the mosin at 15 gr with pulled surplus bullets

TIMC, thats a sweet ruger, money well spent.

For hunting, i honestly consider the .223, 300aac, and .450 Bushy to have similar effective range for deer size game, 150s about as far as i shoot at game with any of them.

Given the option id go with the .450, but than i love my .458, and im less thrilled with the .300, and i like the .223 but mostly for shooting random crap at the range.

That is a sweet Ruger for sure, I hear ya loonwolf I like the 223 for how cheap it is to shoot I can cast alot of 55 grainers with a 20# pot of lead, it's a pain though to pay what they are asking for GC's I am looking into punching out my own but have to buy them for now. I will be looking into the aluminum ones but I'm not sure how I feel bout them yet. The 300blk looks like a good hush hush load and I've heard good reports on deer with the 110gr bullets but the reviews were from industry folks not paying customers. And the 450bush is new idk anything about it, I wonder if the cast 452-200-rn for 45acp that I have would work but

It should, the bushys been around for a while and its got its proponents, they have tried all kindsa stuff in it. Including sizing down .458 projectiles lol.

The .300s a good round especially if you want low cost sub sonic ammo and reload, but its on the slow side for medium range hunting. That isnt to say that alot of folks make it work just fine.

I run the 110's in my AR's in .300 B/O with full power loads. I've dropped deer and pigs out to 200 yards with them.

Yea I'll probably just hunt hog with it maybe deer if I have to, I bought a 1960's Mossberg 800B in 243 for deer when I was young but never used it till 2 years ago and found out its twist is 1-11 and it really is inacurate with heavier bullets but it shoots 87-75 grain bullets like a boss! So it's just for varmint

Thats good pretty good grouping. Maybe try the 85 grn sgks, or 90grn flat base spitzers. Those should do fine in a 1-11. My 1-10 6x47 will do ok with upto 100grn flat basr bullets.

Loonwolf it shot best with an old box of Sierra 87gr flat base hollow point that my great uncle had laying around, and entropy if ur talking about the Ruger ranch it isn't chambered in Creed unfortunately

I definitely want to delve into that caliber but right now I have 4 different loads in development and while I keep good notes sometimes it's still a little overwhelming and I'll never be done tweaking 243 win in my old girl she just started throwing groups I have to figure it out. NEWS FLASH.... I just received word my church has had been threatened!!! Now I have to suit up and spend all night there posted up. The world we live in!

Trouble at church? Hope you are well armed...

God protect y'all. Happy Easter

$425 - Ruger rifle
$100 - new stock
$50 - rear sight
$??? drill and tap/soldering for a front sight

Looks to me like you are running up on the price of a CZ ($630 on Bud's) awful quickly, just to make a rifle into a CZ.

If I was in your shoes, I would grab the Ruger and a cheap 1x or 2x scope, then call it a day.
It was bound to happen sooner or later, the application of practicality and common sense. ;)
