As you can hopefully see, this is a 3 screw Blackhawk in .30 Carbine.

I'm not an internet genius, but I can't find where Ruger made these with a barrel that long.

Is this possibly a custom job?

I have not handled it. It is one of three noise makers that I intend to pick up from an Estate Sale.
All I have right now are pictures.

I "need" a .30 carbine revolver to compliment my rifles. :D

I don't see myself wielding this Flag Pole. I'm guessing I can have it shortened or re-barreled without breaking the bank.

This thing is so ugly, nobody has wanted it. They are darn near giving it away.

Back on topic.... does anyone know if this is a Factory Configuration?

I like it.

It might actually give enough velocity to make the wimpy .30 carbine useful from a handgun. The standard .30C Blackhawk has too short a barrel and gives lackluster performance.

I'll have to check when I get a moment as to factory configuration (my gut instinct is that it is in fact factory). Don't chop it though! I would be very interested in one with that length barrel and I'm sure there are others as well. I would be happy to discuss some thoughts via PM...

I agree with Craig above. Factory should be 7.5in. Oddly, the 30 Blackhawk has (pretty sure) only ever been made in one configuration.

Are there any markings on the barrel? Ruger would have marked it if theirs. Any other markings to maybe be a gunsmith's logo?

Does not look factory, the finishes are quite different as well. Ruger likes to print as much of the “Magna Carta” on their barrels as they can fit so that would be a clue. Could be a turned down Carbine barrel? Anyway it looks pretty cool! As long as it is working correctly and priced accordingly why not. As you said you could always make it shorter but keep it longer than the inefficient and very bright and loud 7.5”.

the more I look I would swear that is at least 14”! How cool would a 10” barrel threaded for a flash hider (or suppressor) be? They would be cool!

3 screws didnt have all the warning labels on them, at least not the early ones.

Ruger finishes on non-ferrous metals from that time tended to turn purple over time. Same with Leupold. However, their bluing on ferrous metals did not turn purple.

I do agree that its not factory. Ive never seen a ruger revolver with a tapered barrel. Nor with a gold trigger.

I do think it is an attractive gun as well. Perfect for whitetail or varmints.

I'd strongly opine this is a gunsmith special rather than anything from the Ruger factory.

As to owning it, there's a weird cool factor and that's always reason enough. However, unless it's intended for something like a special small-medium game handgun season or a silhouette competition class, for myself I'd prefer a stock M1 (or better yet M1A1) Carbine. I think Schwarzkopf's 'Advisor Special' is probably handier.

If I decide to butcher it or get rid of it, I will let you know.

That looks it could be an M2 Carbine, full auto.

Premium Corbon 110 grain .357 magnum is approximately 1,500 fps.
.30 Carbine 110 grain is approximately 1,990 fps. I'm not sure what part is wimpy. Compared to the .30-06 yes, compared to pistol cartridges not so much.
