Just got a Charger and put a red dot sight on it. I've never used a red dot before and can't figure out how to use it. The "dot" seems to wander all over the place and it's difficult to center. I read the instructions to the sight and it says nothing. Can someone help me out?

.

Use sandbags or the bipod (if it came with one) to zero the dot. Just like a scope, it has windage & elevation adjustments. The tricky thing is the holographic nature of the red dot. When it is brightest and clearest in your view is where ~ POA is. I've thought many times that I would prefer a 1x red dot w/o the holographic dot....just a simple cross hair 50 or 60 mm 1x scope....

You have to hold the firearm in the same spot and look through it the same way each time. A lot of red dots, if you shift you angle the dot still appears, but not where you want to aim. If you could provide what type of red dot that might help with any info you are looking at.

Additionally make sure everything is tightened down properly to prevent any movement from the sight itself.

Once you sight it in it doesn't matter where your eye is in relation to dot . Dot will still be on target if you hold it there.

Thanks! Once I sight it in, I'll know more about it. How about battery life?

Is the initial sighting in pretty easy? (Are the first shots generally on the paper?)

Battery life varies-I always carry a couple of sets of batteries with me, just in case the red dot gets left on. I usually start with the target at about 3-5 yds. to get the dot on the target and then move the target farther back to dial it in.

On the one I have a Simmons El Cheapo the batteries last fairly well.Unless you leave it on. which I do frequently. 1 night will pretty well drain it.
