So I starting getting light primer strikes on my 41 Mag Blackhawk again and called Ruger last Wednesday. They made me pay $30 for shipping back to them since my revolver was made in 1974 and I thought it was very reasonable. Today (the following Wednesday), my Blackhawk shows up with a new transfer bar and a tune up so that the cylinder locks up tighter than any Blackhawk I've experienced. They even sent back the soft case I packaged my revolver in.

Awesome! My neighbor had good service with them too. He shot out his MK2 barrel. They sent him a new one. He wore that one out then. That replacement was 1/2 price. They told him next one is on him. He has the longer barrel 7''? I shot it it's a great shooting gun.

Glad you got some great service. I have had similar if not even better service. I also have less than great but overall I'm very happy with them.

I don't see how someone can shoot a 22 pistol barrel out. How many rounds did it take? I'd suspect faulty cleaning regiment, like muzzle wear from the cleaning rod before I'd ever guessed you could shoot out a MKII barrel.

A guy that "shot out" two MKII barrels? Interesting
He shoots the gun very often. I too questioned him on it. You maybe onto something Bazoo on his cleaning methods or lack of. I loaned him my inline M/L last year. Because his the bore was very pitted. When he gave mine back. I bore scoped it. Mine has some pits starting. He shot 3 deer with it. I don't think he cleaned it after each one.

Ruger has always had top notch customer service. I have only had to use it one for a gun that was missing the base pin retainer on a single action. I told them I would pay for it but they sent a new one to me free of charge.:thumbup::thumbup:

I am like the others. How do you wear a 22 barrel? How do you wear out TWO 22 barrels on the same gun? Anyone remember the old Remington ad where they were promoting the Nylon 66 and said they shot 70,000 rounds and the barrel still speced as new? I think something else is going on here.

I have been very happy with Ruger Customer Service. I had 2 original Vaqueros that I had given to my son-in-law for CAS. I borrowed them for a couple of matches and realized they needed some tightening up. The trigger pills were spongy. The actions felt sloppy. I called them. They paid for shipping to and from and repaired them both to like new actions. Very nice.
I have a New Vaquero that started skipping chambers. The gun only had a few hundred rounds through it. Rather than fix it myself I thought about selling it but before I did I wanted it repaired. I called Ruger, sent it in, they repaired it. While it was there I inquired about a second cylinder in .45 ACP. They made me one for $150. They repaired the gun and it works great and I can also shoot .45 ACP with it. Very Cool!
I decided to keep it, but I installed a new original Vaquero grip frame. It handles great now. I figured out that my dislike of the New Vaqueros is that little grip frame. I still need to polish the frame though. I do like shooting it a lot more now.

If the in-line bore is pitted after he used it, I’d say he abused two .22 barrels rather than overused two barrels… but I digress.

My older .41 Redhawk and .41 Blackhawk both went back for light strikes. Both were fixed gratis.

A rusted out Standard .22 auto became mine for a song on Gun Broker. (75 bucks). I called them up and bought two mags and Ruger sent me all the internal springs and a set of plastic grips for free.

I think I’ll be sending my 28 ga red label barrels in, my buddy scratched them up a couple of years ago and it’s been driving me nuts ever since..:(

Glad your gun is dialed in!

Stay safe.

I won't loan him another gun. He also ruined his 30.06 resizing die. Stuck case and how he removed it. He gives me his casings now to resize. I tried to sell him my Lee dies after i got my RCBS ones. He said im not cheap. But you can size mine. He is cheap. It took him for ever to buy a new CVA wolf. He's a millionaire tight wad! Single never married and has a very successful body shop. He had the shop for 40 years.

Ruger's customer service is top notch. So is Hi Point though. Bought one at a pawn shop for $100 with a rattle. Called them up, sent it, got a brand new one for free, plus two spare mags.

I agree rugers cust service is excellent. and no way you could shoot out 2 mk barrels in 1 lifetime. I have a mkii that I bought used several years ago and shoot it 2 to 3 times a week and several ot the kids on my shooting team shoot it as well. I know it has over 30,000 rounds through it since I bought it.

Borrow his lawn mower and return it with a empty gas tank. Keep it for a month and ask him to mow your lawn next time because you don't want to be responsible if you break it. it's worth a shot (no pun intended)

I would think it would be next to impossible to wear out a .22 LR barrel unless the steel is of very poor quality. Improper cleaning with abrasive substances or improper use of steel cleaning rods, that I can see. I have a Mk III Target north of 10k rounds, probably closer to 20k, no signs of slowing down.

I used Ruger CS 3 times, or 1 time depending how you look at it. One gun sent back three times. Sent back with them saying everything is good. Their "good" wasn't. Gun and Ruger no longer in my safe.

I can’t speak highly enough of Ruger and their CS they went above and beyond for me and I’ll always remember that!

The old expectation for a .22 target rifle barrel was 50,000 rounds.
50 yard X ring is .39" and you better hit it a lot.
By that standard, wear on a plinking pistol might be hard to spot.
Although I knew a guy who said he had worn the slide rails of a Woodsman too loose for reliable function.

I too have great experience with Ruger customer service—I had damaged the front site of a GP100 and I called and they sent out a new front site for FREE including shipping.

While not a handgun, back in the 80s I had an issue with a Ruger77 bolt action. It had a faulty safety. They sent me the rifle back repaired in around 10 days. They also sent 3 coupons for $5 off on ammo purchases, Remington, I believe, and a $50 coupon good towards my next new Ruger purchase. I've been a Ruger fan ever since.

A friend wore out a NM Blackhawk .45 with a lot of "Ruger only" and heavy Colt loads. He sent it in for overhaul with a check for what the price list in the owner's guide said he needed. They returned the gun completely rebuilt - the only way to tell it was the same gun was the serial number and the grips - and $10 change.

I started getting light strikes on one of my Blackhawks and call Ruger for help. I was worried that is was the firing pin, but it was the transfer bar as well. Ruger got it fixed up in no time and now I keep a couple of transfer bars on hand just in case the issue pops up on one of my other Blackhawks. CS was great in my case!
