In the early 2000s, Ruger .45 Colt cylinder mouths measuared .449-inch. The forcing cone/ bore was larger- at least nominally .452. For satisfactory accuracy, people were reaming the chambers for a better fit with the bore and it worked. I sent a cylinder to guy with a reamer and he greatly improved the accuracy

Does anybody know if Ruger ever got around to doing the job THEMSELVES???
Thanx

my y2k (bought new in april 2000) blackhawk came with .452" throats. that gun is much more accurate than i am and shoots plain base lead bullets without leading.

My New Vaquero purchased last March has 5 chambers at .451” and 1 chamber at .4505”.

My original Vaquero made some time before 2005 has all 6 chambers measuring .451”

Blackhawks, as a rule are like that. 45 colt chambers from Colt and Ruger have a "creative" history though.
Ruger 44 specials and magnums are usually exactly right
44 special new model flat top.

Of the four 45c Rugers I own all have .452-4525 throats except a early production Vaquero. I had to have it reamed. The throats were uniformed just tight. I could not get a .451 pin gauge to pass through but a .4505 would. I do have a Super Blackhawk Hunter in 44m that had throats from .429 to .433. Reamed all the small ones to .432 now it has done 2” at a hundred. Scoped and off of sandbags of course.
