i have a new gp-100
and the sights, no matter my loads.. they will not adjust
for a desent poi....

i have checked grouping @ 15 yrds with over 9 different handload
variations..

they mostly all group well but, no where near poa.

i'm shooting from bags, with all impacts being to the extreme left..
elevation adjustments are in order but, windage ain't doing it!!

i have thought about it being "ME" several times and
others have shot with the same results

i have adjusted the sights properly with no close results

my best adjustment is about 9" away from poa.

do you think maybe its a warranty claim ??

or am i just pee'n in tha wind??

i guess i'm jus spoiled with my 29

thanks

I removed the adjustible rear sight from my GP100 and use the remaining slot as a wide fixed sight. You can try that and see if it helps.

do you mean you've used up all the travel of the rear sight going right...so the notch of the blade is to the far right in the sight base?

if ya got the blade over to the rt & still shootin left then it`s time to call Ruger for a pickup box.

They have issues with gettin the barrels on straight& square.

There`s many cases of it on the wires & the good thing is every one is happy or even happier when there GP returns.

As many GPs that i`ve had in my hands i`ve never encountered this myself .

Yep, send it back.
I had the same problem on my GP-100. I had it back in less than two weeks with a sheet of things they "repaired" about a mile long.
There wasn't anything wrong with most of it but they still repaired about ten things other than straightening the barrel out. It's now the smoothest revolver I've ever felt.

hey thanks guys !!!:D
i thought it was jinxed, cus my 29 shoots soooo good!!!
its go'n back this week...
thank yall !!!

I had a similar problem with a SP101 a few years ago. Send your gun back (call first) and while you are at it tell them to:
1- make sure barrel is clocked straight
2- set cylinder gap to .004-.006 and make sure the back end of the barrel is cut square
3- verify that windage POI is centered with rear sight centered

These are the instructions I sent with my SP101 that was off approx 8" left and 4" low at 15 yds using Winchester 145gr Silvertip 357 ammo. It is fixed sights so I also requested that elevation be on POA at 15yds.

I got my gun back in about two weeks with a new barrel and everything was as per my instructions.

In this incident and a couple of others over the years Ruger customer service has been excellent.

Be sure to submit your requests in writing and attached to the gun when you return it. Do not depend on any telephone conversations regarding what you want done.
