Around the rear pin. Anyone heard of this happening before? I love this pistol. Carry it always, shoot infrequently, less than 1000 rounds probably closer to 500. Mostly American Eagle and S&B ball, some 3.0 HP-38 reloads and a few boxes of non +P factory JHP of various makes. About 12 rounds of buffalo bore. Very reliable and accurate.

I will call Ruger on Monday. It was still working when I noticed the cracks. Felt weird when pulling the trigger like the slide was moving around.

Even if Ruger won't fix it I'm buying another one.

Ruger has been pretty good in the past. I'll bet the fix it or replace it for you.

I'll be surprised if Ruger doesn't't make it right. Please report back on your customer service experience.

Call Ruger. They will email you a label for free shipment back to Ruger. In less than one week you will have it back. Ruger service is top notch.

I have heard good things. I recommend the LCP to everyone and like I said I'll buy another even if they decide not to fix it. I'll keep you updated.

Don't bet on Ruger making it right : I had a low mileage LCP that developed FTE issues. Ruger said (twice) that I would have to pay shipping for them to even look at it. Really soured me to a company I used to like a lot.

Had a problem with a G42 and 30 seconds into the conversation the Glock rep was offering to send me a shipping label.

Guess whose 380 I'm keeping?

That is the complete opposite of my experience with Ruger. I had a LC9 that had a FTE issue and they paid for shipping both ways with tracking.

Those are made right here in my home town. If they don't straighten it out for you, I'll drop by and give them a talking-to. ;-)

I have a hard time believing this. Even on pistols that I sent to them to work on for non warranty issues, they send a call tag and bill you for it in the total.
I have had ruger make repairs that were obviously, and even declared by me, not to be a defect of the firearm on their dime. I'm not singularly a fanboy of Ruger, but when it comes to customer service there is no one that compares.
Not even a close second.

I had the same crack form on a Kel-Tec P3AT. Called KT and they volunteered a new "grip" as they called it. Said I could choose any color I wanted. I do most of my own work so I didn't even ask about sending it in. It was a simple repair for me and I had the new part in a jiffy.

I had kind of the same experience, my LCP jammed constantly, even after going back to the factory a few times. They told me to try different ammo, this during the severe ammo shortage. I'm sorry, but a NIB gun should work with ANY factory ammo. They finally gave up on it and refunded my. I like my Colt Mustang .380 waaay more. You get what you pay for.

Good to see them acting promptly. Looks as though you only have the front (frame insert) pin holding the back on.

Glad it didn't get any uglier then that for you.

Wow! What BB cartridges did you use? I'm thinking maybe they are a bit much.
They tend to be pretty warm.

Op, they'll most likely replace the gun free or at a low cost. They repaired my Ruger sp101 for free that I bought used and paid shipping both ways.

To everybody else, Ruger doesn't have to "make it right". The gun was fired with reloads. I think the expectation of getting a new gun for any issue is nuts, it's not like Ruger makes them for an 1/8 of what they charge new

I find that hard to believe too. Every time I have had an issue it was an E-mail shipping label for free to me but that has only been two e. I also called them and told them I broke the clock spring in my vaquero's trying to run in gummed up with black powder and they sent me one without charge.

I love ruger guns. I bought an lcp in 2010 and let it get away. Carried a kel tec for 5 years then recently bought another LCP. Mine has been pretty good with factory ball. I only run ball in my carry guns if they are auto. Anyway I really really like my lcp. I just kinda wish i would have been able to get the $229 deals we have going on now. I paid $100 more!!!!

Glad to see ruger got ya set up! Hope they fix it for ya. 1 more thing, AVOID THAT BB AMMO!!! These small guns are not made to push the limits like say a walther ppk or large frame 380.
