I was perusing a couple other threads and they mentioned how big bad evil Ruger was selling spare mags for the LCP now for 40 bucks a pop. I did some searching around and found Rugerlcp.com has a link to order spare magazines. They are apparently out of stock but don't seem to be THAT far behind according to the website. The mags were also about 18 bucks and some change each. Not quite 40 bucks. I ordered two and with shipping it came to about 38.00 for the pair. Now I just have to get the stinkin pistol!

P3AT mags might work, since Ruger ripped the LCP design off from KT.

Really?!?

Does this have to come up in EVERY LCP topic? Every decent design gets ripped off eventually. It's how things get BETTER.

i gotta agree, there hasnt been an "original" design since Luger, Browning, Simminov, or Degtyaryov

just combinations and modifications.... ( yes, that includes gaston.)

I have read where the P3AT magazines will fit...but they extend out of the grip as they are too long. I would like to know why everyone thinks that their "remake" of the P3AT will be anymore reliable? I mean, yes, they do have a better extractor...and yes, the slide is a tad bit heavier. Other than that...I see no real improvements in a cheaply designed, snappy/weak caliber weapon that is prone to break or malfunction on a frequent basis. It does conceal nicely in the pocket...so...do you want to trade your life off for convenience...ease...comfort?

And here comes the KT basher trolls. Please, please don't humor or honor that drivel. This is NOT a Keltec thread! This thread is to help people find mags for thier new LCP when they get it. I have also read the KT mag will insert and lock into the LCP but NOT wether or not they WORK!?!?!?!

That being said, Ruger mags are only 19.00 bucks a shot so I ordered them in the mean time. If the KT mags work and I find a deal I may get them too. Too bad Ruger decided only one mag with the weapon. I agree three should be the minimun for a slingle stack weapon. I would forgive one spare mag for a double stacker.

kt mag for ruger lcp

my friend who owns both says the Kt magazine will work in the Ruger but stick out about 1/8 further. Both magazines made by Megar.. I think the Kt magazine from KT is $20 and the ruger lcp mag is $25. I think I would stillbuy the Ruger magazine for that smallof a difference..

The retailer I ordered from was selling them for 18.95. But then, I am still waiting for them to arrive.

Heck, I'm still waiting for my LCP!!

Apparently the answer is "yes." People seem more comfortable repeating what they hear than exercising their capacity for abstract thought.

1911

You ought to go over to the kel-teec board, they can't get off of the "cloning" that Ruger did. How fast they and maybe we all forget the 1911 is probably the most copied handgun on the market. never heard any complaints about "copying' there and to this day still don't. Hehk, look at the AR's, how many of those look alike.....?? People do need move on from the copying stuff to actually calling Ruger "stealing" Kt's design,... Live with it, If you feel so strong one way or the other about it, then don't buy that product. It is that simple. From all the reports that I have heard so far (and that is not alot yet either), They have been 100% positive towards the Ruger lcp. One has over 1600 flawless rounds through it and only cleaned at round 1000, same recoil springs, no wear, or tear or nothing.I don't think the Ruger is what some people (who don't own one but are repeating something they heard on another forum) are trying to say is a "SHOOT SELDOM CARRY OFTEN gun, For it will not hold up. That so far has not been proven to be true. this is Rugers first real entry into the ccw handgun, but they are certainly big enough, and have the technology and equipment to make the lcp a extremely reliable defense weapon. Time will prove me right or wrong..

Copying as it may be, the argument of simply showing a parts diagram comparison and asking 'Still think it's better' is just silly. The diagram doesn't show specs or tolerances. A part could look the same, with one being aluminum and the other being hardened steel. Tolerances and quality control would make a difference too. Time will tell: will LCPs need a 'fluff and buff'? Will Kel-tec improve processes so that that action is no longer the first recommendation by other owners?

BUT back on topic...I've now heard mixed reports. Some say the magazine catch is different on LCP and P3AT magazines, while others report that they fit, but extend a bit. So has anyone actually fired or loaded a round from a P3AT magazine?

just think Ruger's smart. Let someone else Beta-Test a design for five years, work out the quirks, add a slide stop, actually polish the slide, and sell for 10 bucks over their dealer cost. I applaud Ruger for cutting costs where it counts, in the R&D dept!

Not to sidetrack here, but I really hope that was sarcastic..because otherwise that's just plain foolishness.

Even if you guys are arguing on behalf of the LCP you are still taking part in the hijacking of this thread. THIS THREAD IS ABOUT SPARE MAGAZINES FOR THE LCP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FIVE POSTS IN A ROW ABOUT WETHER OR NOT THE LCP IS A CLONE! WHAT DOES THAT HAVE TO DO WITH GETTING MAGS FOR IT?????

THR IS GETTING TO BE JUST LIKE GLOCKTALK. YOU CAN'T SAY ANYTHING WITH GETTING HIJACKED BY PEOPLE WHO WANT TO ARGUE ABOUT THEIR PET ARGUEMENT!!

I THINK WAS NEEDED TO BE SAID HAS BEEN PASSED ON, COULD A MODERATOR PLEASE CLOSE THIS THREAD.

magazines

my friend owns both, says the kt magazine will work in the ruger lcp but not vice versa , but the kt magazine sticks out about 1/8" further, almost like a free pinky extension. He did state also for owning both that the lcp for him doesn't require the pinky extension to shoot comfortabley where as his kt did, so ergo nomics must be playing some role here also, .

I recently acquired my LCP. I love it. I tried the KT mags I have and they hard a hard time loading the first round when you racked the slide. After that they functioned just fine. My three Ruger mags are flawless. It seem like the base is the only real difference. Maybe if I order Ruger base pad and put it on my KT mags they will work better.

difference

there is a difference in the lcp/kt magazines, OH so little but still a difference. Not sure why anyone would want to use a kt magazine in a Ruger lcp or vice versa. I ordered my Ruger spare magazines From Ruger on line and had them in 5 days. My little gun that could goes bang now for 1000 flawless rounds, No signs of wear anywhere. It sure pleases me..Now if I could just find some ammo under $10 bucks ...

Unless you already had them? Or could get them cheaper? Or you wanted to use the 10 rounds mags? Cheap range mags??

Does that clear it up??

I have a P3AT (for sale in the Trading Post :)) and an LCP and my magazines are not interchangeable. The cuts for the mag releases are in different places. Maybe they could be modified to work, but it wouldn't be worth the trouble, just get the Ruger mags, .
