Early LCPs were recalled for not being "drop safe," but this was more a case of Ruger's thinking it was but wasn't. Newer guns will not have this problem.
Didn't want to create a whole new thread for this question and it deals with LCP safety..
There is no external safety or decocker on the LCP is there? I'm thinking of getting an LCP for a pocket carry, but the idea of a chambered round in my pocket with no external safety just doesn't sound appealing... Do most people that pocket carry an LCP carry it with a round in the chamber?
rd2007: its internal drop safety and its long DAO trigger pull (as well as the one between your ears) are its "safeties." A thumb safety is only needed on a single-action like the Sig P238. Since the hammer is never cocked - always following the slide down with each shot - on a DAO, a decocker is not needed either.
Ruger did a massive recall to fix the drop safe issue.
Any new LCP has the firing pin block.
Maybe they didn't want to re-print the manual, maybe the lawyers prevailed.
