Ruger LCR .327

When Ruger makes a .327 LCRx 3” w/adjustable sights, I’ll own one!

At present I have two S&W hand-ejectors, a marvelous Taurus M-71 .32h&r (think 6” K.32!), and a Ruger Single-7 w/5.5” bbl.

I hadn’t pursued the .32mag until I got the M-71. It’s my new favorite cartridge. It exceeds the +P .38’s pretty easily and approaches the +P 9mm level of power with reloads. Hodgdons Lil’Gun, LongShot, and #2400 put it in a different league than factory loads. Hand loads with the Hornady 85gr XTP approach.327 Federal factory .327 loads (down loaded by Federal to ~1,300fps).

My .32swl’s are loaded to 100yr old specs in deference to my 100yr old S&W’s. But, the Taurus shoots bug-holes with them at 25yds, so that’s GOOD! My Lee 93gr RN 6-cav molds “rains” bullets, which is also GOOD, as my .30M1 carbines LOVE them powder coated, over enough #2400 to cycle the actions. My NOE 4-cav 89gr wadcutter mold is right behind it!

My utility load in the Tarurus is the Lyman 311xx 122gr FNGC w/o a GC, over LongShot for 1,050fps. Shoots 3” at 25yds and duplicates the old .32-20 RIFLE load from a K32. Performance equals or exceeds a +P.38 and cases fall out of the massive cylinder.

The S-7 goes hunting! But with a stout but somewhat below max load of #2400. It likes the Lee 113gr FNGC over 10.0gr of #2400 @ 0.314”. If I was going to use it for deer or self defense, I have a few 100gr XTP’s over a max load of Acc#9, and some Federal American Eagle 100gr SoftPoint factory that clock 1,500fps! But they DO stick in the cylinder occasionally!

Ruger, are you listening?

When and if Ruger ever makes an LCR revolver chambered in .327 Magnum with a 3" barrel, I'll be standing in line for one, no matter how else it's configured. If any pistol cartridge screams out for a longer barrel, even if only for an inch more, it's the .327 Magnum.

I have two LCR .327's in the family and if a 3 incher is made I think I'd be buying another.

Just got my LCR 327 and have been to the range twice with it. The recoil is sharp but it doesn't hurt like a 357. I shot 40 rounds first time out with 13 in the heart of a splatter target, and the rest fully COM. It's accurate but it can wear you out. Second time out I shot 32 HR Mag and 32 Long along with the 327. 32 HR Mag was very manageable. 32 long felt like I was shooting 22 mag. I bought it because I like snubbies and haven't owned one for a while. Investigating conceal carry holsters, although I could easily carry it in my back pocket.

I would buy it immediately.

I carry one most days. Some days I carry a j frame 38, but only because the holsters are not always interchangeable. When I get my holster issue fix I will carry it exclusively.

Buffalo Bore and Hornady both make good .32 mag cartridges. Either one will work.

I don't think it makes sense to get that gun in 327:

  • The extra round of capacity may come in handy in a carry situation, but you've got that exposed hammer spur that kind of ruins it. If you bob the hammer, it might become a great carry alternative to your snubby 38 LCR: Longer barrel, but not TOO much longer. Extra round. Adjustable sights. It would be fun to get dies for 327 Fed Mag and roll up some light loads; something like 32 S&W Long or 32 H&R.
  • If you don't bob the hammer, you might as well get a different steel framed revolver in 32 H&R Mag. Load for it and you'll love it, I bet. Maybe a Ruger SP-101.
I wonder if Ruger will make an LCR in 44 Spl or 45 ACP...

I scored a SW 632 SS, with a 3 inch barrel, comp'ed and I put a fiber optic on it. Not made anymore but it's a great configuration for 327 mag and my little hands. Cabela's had them on sale way back when. The local Cabelas has had the hammmered and hammerless LCR 327s in their case pretty steadily.

I don't need a new gun but it's tempting. Unless NYS resolves carry laws, no need to buy new carry guns.

GEM, your Model 632 3" with fiber optic sights sounds sweet. I've got the 632 2" version for my EDC and a 632-1 3" for the nightstand, and a model 31 in 32 S&WL. Peviously owned a Model 432 at one time as well. Guess you could say I'm a big 32 fan.

Have owned the LCR 327 in the past and it is a fine choice. In my case just preferred the J-Frames with the myriad grip choices available for them.

I had a Taurus in 327 and it was quiet pleasant to shoot. And having an extra round in the cylinder compared to a 357mag wasn't bad either. I was pretty much limited to shooting AE soft point ammo because that is all I could find locally.

Got a 432. It was cheap when SW discontinued and they were dumped at the gun shows. Wish I had the bucks then to buy another as they are pricey now. It's a great light weight pocket gun.

I own LCR357 & LCR327
Im a LCR fan … both great revolvers..

I did own a LCR9 .. it functioned great .. but somehow I traded it ?
I like to have a LCR in 40 S&W myself

my cousin’s only snubbie revolver is a ruger lcr 327/32. i tried it with 32long and fell in love. i had a lcr 38, which was too snappy for me. i vote for getting the lcr 327 but at this point $500 is too pricey for me.
