When Ruger makes a .327 LCRx 3” w/adjustable sights, I’ll own one!
At present I have two S&W hand-ejectors, a marvelous Taurus M-71 .32h&r (think 6” K.32!), and a Ruger Single-7 w/5.5” bbl.
I hadn’t pursued the .32mag until I got the M-71. It’s my new favorite cartridge. It exceeds the +P .38’s pretty easily and approaches the +P 9mm level of power with reloads. Hodgdons Lil’Gun, LongShot, and #2400 put it in a different league than factory loads. Hand loads with the Hornady 85gr XTP approach.327 Federal factory .327 loads (down loaded by Federal to ~1,300fps).
My .32swl’s are loaded to 100yr old specs in deference to my 100yr old S&W’s. But, the Taurus shoots bug-holes with them at 25yds, so that’s GOOD! My Lee 93gr RN 6-cav molds “rains” bullets, which is also GOOD, as my .30M1 carbines LOVE them powder coated, over enough #2400 to cycle the actions. My NOE 4-cav 89gr wadcutter mold is right behind it!
My utility load in the Tarurus is the Lyman 311xx 122gr FNGC w/o a GC, over LongShot for 1,050fps. Shoots 3” at 25yds and duplicates the old .32-20 RIFLE load from a K32. Performance equals or exceeds a +P.38 and cases fall out of the massive cylinder.
The S-7 goes hunting! But with a stout but somewhat below max load of #2400. It likes the Lee 113gr FNGC over 10.0gr of #2400 @ 0.314”. If I was going to use it for deer or self defense, I have a few 100gr XTP’s over a max load of Acc#9, and some Federal American Eagle 100gr SoftPoint factory that clock 1,500fps! But they DO stick in the cylinder occasionally!
Ruger, are you listening?
