Ruger LCR 9mm: Full Review and Range Report

Not so much not liking semi auto, but the LCR in 3" barrel has moved up my list.

BTW, nice review. One day I may have to get the 9mm. I like the LCR triggers. :)

I guess no one likes revolvers in semi auto calibers..

I love 9mm revolvers, but all you posted was a link to a YouTube video. If you want more comments, create a written review on THR and people will comment. I think with a YouTube video, people just go watch the video and then when they're done, they're done. And if they want to comment they probably comment on YouTube.

Just my opinion.

I am really interested in the LCR, but I also like using 147gr Ranger "T" or 147gr HST for self defense and now I'm worried that these bullets may get yanked out of their cases by the LCR's recoil.

I'd rather convert a GP100 to 9mm. Wouldnt have to worry about jumping crimp....and a 6 shot makes way more sense....to me at least.

I've fired 115gr, 124gr and 147gr rounds from the larger, heavier Charter Arms PITBULL in 9mm and I haven't had bullets jump crimp. But the PITBULL doesn't fit in a jeans pocket very well.

The pit bull is also heavier, lowering recoil, which is what cause the jumping. It's also possible the tolerance are not quite as tight as the Ruger, also lowering the chances.

No, it's that your review is redundant and more importantly, your post is a shameless shill to try and raise your youtube hits so you can get more $$$. I'm not falling for it and will not click on your link.

Thanks for the kind words :)

Also not really sure how you know if my review is redundant if you haven't seen it. If only you knew how very little money comes from this channel. I have put far more of my own money into this hobby than I have gotten from it...

You're as bad as Amsdorf. Start threads about review videos of guns that have been reviewed online multiple times already.

You are totally entitled to your opinion, but just for your information: my original video on this gun was an initial impression and was one of two videos on youtube. My video documenting the jump crimp issue was the first on the whole internet, and this video is the full review, and is still only one of maybe five or six on youtube. I completed this video with a gun provided to me by Ruger, and now that the review is complete I will be sending this gun home.

Excuse me for sharing my personal impressions of a brand new gun with you guys.

With all due respect, why should I care what your opinion is on this gun, or anything for that matter? What credibility do you have that makes your opinion worthwhile?

You only need care if you're interested in this gun. I am a guy with hands on experience with it. My credibility doesn't matter to you so I won't get into that. Clearly you just want to troll it up this afternoon. If that gets you jollies, that's your own prerogative. No one is forcing anything on you. Thank you for your input, I'll take no more.

The bullet jump is a good reminder that, as with any SD/HD gun, ammo and gun should be put through the test for reliability.

Thanks for the review!

Cartridge related issues aside, I appreciated your review comments on the trigger return issue. A sluggish trigger return and its attendant short stroking or trigger lockup problem is my primary criteria for rejecting a DA revolver.

Yeah, I didn't really like that. I do think that is the side effect for the light for a snub trigger pull. It is a training issue, but I would still rather it had a slightly stronger return spring.

I've locked up my Charter Arms PITBULL by not letting the trigger reset.

I've never had that problem with a Smith.

WOW CoThG, what is wrong with you? DON'T WATCH IT if you don't want to! A video is a more efficient way of getting a review out there... I'm glad the OP posted this as it was a good informative review. GO ELSEWHERE to complain and nag and pick fights with other members, we don't like that stuff on this forum.

OP, very good review. I was unaware that the 9mm LCR could experience bullet jump but it makes sense now. Quite frankly, I would probably want to carry a 124 grain +P load for defense in something like this but not if it's going to tie up the cylinder.

More research is needed. I also like a revolver with a good reset, looks like this one not so much.

Thanks man! I really really like the gun otherwise. This was a T&E that I had planned on keeping before I even shot it. Sent it back to Ruger yesterday...
