According to Bo at XS, the earlier LCRs had front sight mounting posts with varying crosspin hole locations, so that they couldn't make a standard one-sight-fits all LCR sight. So, they made one without a pin hole and had you glue it on with epoxy. Not so good after the tritium dims.
I got one of those and drilled a hole to match my gun and installed it with the original roll pin and no epoxy and it came out great. But it is a real challenge to get the hole right, and you only get one chance at it. A 'smith could certainly do that for you, and I'd recommend that route if you have such a gun.
Bo says that now Ruger has standardized the post/hole location so they are making pin-on sights that fit current guns.
