Anybody with experience with the new Ruger LCR have any thoughts or
impressions about this used as a CCW...Thanks in advance...

Here is my review and range report on mine.
http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=453609

Each time I shoot my LCR I like it more and it is a dream to carry. My J-frame Smith's are now sitting in my safe and the LCR is either on my hip or in my pocket when I get dressed each day. That's the best recommendation that a CCW revolver can get IMO.

I too find the LCR a "the more I shoot it, the more I like it" handgun. It is the most versatile CCW I have ever owned. Pocket, hip, pack, tank bag, tackle box, it is very non-intrusive.

The finish on the frame and cylinder is very tough. That combined with the polymer grip frame make it a very rugged field revolver that should hold up to a good deal of neglect and abuse.

Thanks, Katana & DMZ...Great review, and good reports...seems to get better
as it goes...Guess I'll have to take the plunge...

I have to agree with the others the more i shoot it the bigger the smile gets almost every firearm i have bought i get a slight bit of buyers remorse but not with my LCR
I carry mine on a daily basis and i dont notice its there for the first few weeks i had to continuously double check that i hadnt left it at home (i was used to a heavier gun in that pocket)

the accuracy is better than i can really shoot it so no complaints there

the only complaint (if i can even justify it as one) is that ruger used special saftey torque bolts to hold it all together and i havent found the tools to take it down like i said not even a problem really i just personaly would have liked something i already have tools for

quite possably the best gun ive bought in a long time

I handled one for the first time the other day. It had the laser grips on it. I was surprised how easily the laser dot went where I pointed it. I verified the dot and sights agreed with each other, which they did. There was a small sign, about the size of a sheet of paper, on the upper wall some 20 yds away (big shop!) and I always got the dot on the sign.

So, whoever figured out the grip angle figured it out very, very well ! It points almost like magic.

The trigger pull was very nice, as I'd heard it was.

The standard LCR is $20 more than a S&W 642, so I don't know whick will sell more, once the "new" wears off the LCR.

kendradad what r u gonna "Get Er Done" on the LCR im thinking of having someone tap the sight ofr tritium but other than that....

I have the Crimson Trace model and could not be happier with it. I haven't handled one with the Hogue grips (I was the first person at my LGS to order one), but I hear they're quite a bit thicker and I wonder how easily they would draw from the front pocket of my jeans. BTW, the grips on my LCR are the fourth pair of CT grips I've gotten; obviously, I am sold on them--not just because of my 46-year-old nearsighted eyes, but for their great ergonomics and excellent recoil buffering ability.

Regardless of the grips, I am amazed at how much better I can shoot the LCR than my 642, which I had previously thought I could shoot pretty well (especially after putting the CT-405 grips on it).

OKshot i have the hogue grips on mine and i wear loose fit cargo pants the pull from the front pocket isnt terrible but when i wear jeans its pretty bad the grips are ALOT thicker than the CTs
i plan on getting a set later but i was lucky enough to get the LCR at all so beggers couldnt be choosers

LCR

I pocket carry mine in cargo shorts and it works great. Easy to draw fire. This is the first snubby that I can actually hit anything with. The trigger and sights allow you to shoot as if was a larger gun. :)

I can agree with Dimis in that the only complaint that I have is that the Hogue Tamer grip is a bit thick for pocket carry but they make it a dream to shoot at the range. Ok not my only complant, it's still ugly :D But I'm still glad that I bought it instead of the 642 that I was going to buy.

BTW

In the name of disclosure, I am not a fan of super light revolvers but have been watching the LCP boards.

Producing the LCP was a bold move by Ruger and while like many I find it hideous, the risk takers should be celebrated. Especially those risk takers that create a new product with such a high level of customer satisfaction.

At the shop I frequent, the LCR is a about $40-$45 less than a 642. They have the CT and the standard model there on the shelf. Neither seems to be moving for some reason. I can't remember what the CT version is marked but the standard version is marked $425. That didn't seem bad to me. I was actually thinking about getting the standard version (I said I wasn't going to do that at one time), but one of the guys that works at the shop was opening the cylinder and flicking it closed repeatedly. I decided that I didn't want that one after all.
