Used to have one. Handy, reliable, short, lightweight, powerful little carbine that handled like an extension of my body. It was pretty accurate; at 50-yards I could print clover-leafs without much trouble, sitting. It is the only lever action I've ever seen that I prefered the looks of WITH a scope mounted.
You CAN load one in the chamber and insert a fully loaded magazine. The lever doesn't have to be dropped all of the way; press the mag release really firmly and it opens the bolt enough to allow the mags in and out.
Got rid of mine though, because of one tiny little problem I had. The LOP was too danged short! I got clobbered by the scope more times than I care to remember. It also pinched my shoulder upon firing, with that lousy curved buttplate. Even with a 1" recoil pad installed, it still felt too much like a 10/22 for me.
I've got a Marlin now, with a reciever sight. I like the Marlin better, but wouldn't cry too long if tomorrow I was told I had to get rid of it for a Ruger.
