This is a new one for me. I have a 1993 Ruger Mark II target. I stripped it today and discovered the square retaining block for the bolt stop appears to have broken its welds to the grip frame and is rattling around loose.

Anyone ever see this? I couldn't find any mention online to similar failures. The pistol's in great shape overall with a fairly low round count over the years.

never heard of it, but call Ruger as soon as possible. They tend to drop part/service very quickly after discontinuation.

I found a thread where someone had this problem with a Mark II in 2014. Ruger replaced the frame at no charge. Hope they still have Mark II frames--I'd hate to have to swap this for a Mark IV.

Called Ruger today and they said it was a rare manufacturing defect. They gave me a prepaid label and they'll be replacing the frame under warranty. From photos I can find online it looks like the welds on mine are much smaller than newer ones.

Kudos to Ruger customer service. While I had them on the phone I asked a question about the sights on my Redhawk and they're sending me a bunch of parts at no charge.

That's been my experience with Ruger; top notch customer service with any issue I have ever had with a Ruger product.

See if they will send you a spare frame. I have a mkii stainless gov target upper in a drawer that needs a home.

Looks like it'll be back on Friday. Greyling, I'd call 'em up and see what getting a frame replacement would cost you.

Got the gun back today. I'm not gonna beat my new pistol apart with a mallet until it needs cleaning, but from the outside it looks great. They serviced a bunch of other parts too while they were in there.
