Please list your likes and or dislikes on this new offering from Ruger.
I have not had any range time with mine yet. I like the way it feels in my big hand and the sights seam really easy to use and it points like I like a small pistol to find the target. What holster are you using and why?

I recently rented a Max 9. It is a nice shooter. I’m no going to get one. That is not because dislike the gun. My reasoning is based on the chart below. I found it in the Ruger Forum. It lists 4 Rugers. I have 3 of them. My preferred gun is the Security 9 Compact. If you compare the size and city of the Max 9 and the Sec 9 Compact, you will see that the size differences are not extreme. I carry my Sec 9 compact with the 15vround magazine for a capacity of 16 with a slightly longer barrel than the Max 9. It is also less expensive that a Max 9. With three mag options for the Sec 9C I can control the height of the gun depending on how deep I want to conceal. So I passed on the Max 9 because it offers nothing I want or need beyond my Security 9 Compact.

Not to mention the Sec 9 compact is $200 cheaper. Having said that, the Sec 9 C is 1/2" longer, 3 oz heavier and has the LCP type double action trigger instead of the striker fired trigger the Max has.

I'm weighing the cost benefit ratio of both.

Agree with your info and thinking. One other thing that makes me prefer the Security 9 compact. Being a bit bigger and heavier than the Max 9 it does, from my experience, absorb more recoils than the Max 9. yet another thing. The Sec 9C has very long guide rails as does the Max 9. I think those long guide rails improve the durability of the gun.

I have the LC9, the Security 9c, and just picked up the Max-9. I put a Holosun 507k on the Max. I like all of them of course. There are lots of similarities between them. The biggest issue with the Max has been getting additional magazines, I ordered 2 more 12-round mags the day I brought it home a couple months ago. They still are not here. The only place I saw them was Ruger's store. I did get an email that they were trying to be sure the new pistols had the 2 mags they were supposed to come with, and they are ready to start shipping the extra mags folks have ordered. If I'm lucky I'll have mine by next week.

I had the S9c loaned out to our daughter for a while, but recently got it back. I think I'll be keeping them all just because I like all of my pistols. Just don't ask me how many I have. I hate digging around and counting them.

My son ‘borrowed’ my Security 9 Pro so I’m weighing getting a second one or the Max 9.
    I’ll be watching this thread!

I've had a Max-9 for a while now, fired over 500 rounds, and only have a few minor gripes. Regardless of bullet weight, all groups tend to be a few inches high @ 7-10 yards. Also accuracy with 115gn or 124gn isn't nearly as good as any other pistol I own, however with 147gn it is as good or better than the others. Installed a Romeo-Zero RD and really like how the Max's design allows co-witness with the iron sights.

Also, I wasn't crazy about the feel of the grip, and have added a bike inner tube to it which makes it perfect without adding much bulk.

It's a great gun overall, but I still prefer to carry my Kimber Micro 9.

Just for comparison. The Max is 1/2" shorter than the S9c and weighs 3 ozs less. The max is striker fired while the S9c is sort of double action.

wish they'd have been out when I got my Hellcat, I do like Rugers.
As to the size I was looking at the Security 9 and the size difference is big for front pocket carry. If I was looking to carry IWB I would have got the Security.

Got a chance to shoot mine yesterday and like how it shoots. I really like the sights as the come up sharp and clear. The slide did lock back a few times and not sure why yet with WW 115 gr white box ammo. Accuracy was good at different yardages from 3 to 18 yards and the sights are right on target for the 115 gr loads I tested. Best 5 shot group at 3 yards was right at 1" and I shot a 9" plate at 18 yards with no problems. I do like the way the 12 round mag feels in my big hands.
My wife also likes how it shoots and we want to take it back to our range soon to try some different loads and figure out why the slide is locking open.

Looking at these. How well do the slide serrations work in either the Max9 or the S9c? The look to be very shallow. And is suspect the S9c is easier to operate the slide since its a more traditional SA/DA and not striker-fired, correct? (Disclaimer: I’ve not found any examples locally to fondle)
