I finally saw one in the flesh today, been thinking about a Shield Plus to replace my 43X.
I have a multitude of small 9mm carry guns: G3c, P365, Hellcat, 43X, etc. They all wormed their way into my heart for some reason. I think each of them is different enough that they all have their own thing about them that gives me pause about parting with one over the other.
To be honest, I've never been a big Ruger fan. I like the 22/45s, MKIII/V but their striker fired guns never really impressed me. I don't like the roll pin take down vs a simple lever. You get the idea.
I got the Max in my hand and...oh boy. I think it's somewhere between the 365 and XL in size. Wherever it is, it just felt better than both. One reason I've been a fan of the G3c, and have kept the one I got as a raffle prize is because the it's not too large and not a micro. The grip size and texture are just comfortable to shoot all day or carry all day. The XL grip is still a tad too narrow for me.
The Max feels just right, and I liked the little finishing touches of a good tritium/fiber optic tube on the front as well as the little reverse crown done on the barrel. So as for my posts on the original Max 9 thread - egg on face, foot in mouth. The little Max 9 just works for me, and I made the purchase. I can get over the take down pin, my LCP 22 has been easy enough to live with.
The best part though..optic ready, two mags, night sight- and it was $130 less than the price the 365 is going for these days.
Pics and range review when I get to shoot it. I live in WI where our background checks have to go through a state agency and they're way behind..hopefully I'll get a call today that it's ready for pick up.
