i went with the version that included a flash suppressor so that i wouldn't be blinded by muzzle flash while waddling down the hallway in my tac vest and underwear, dropping tangos.

Nice job on the review and yes the youtube review was long. he could have/should have disassembled as you did.

that said you mention the welds. maybe a problem on older stuff but I don't see that as a problem here. in some cases welds are actually stronger than the base metal, plus with technology today I wouldn't be concerned with the welds at all. again older stuff maybe a concern on these guns it's a non issue

not much there most of us didnt already know but appreciate you taking the time to post if for us none the less

Thanks for that. That pretty much solidifies my decision to go the Mini route..

It's not wise to extrapolate from a sample size of one, but if this Mini-14 is representative of the new 580 series, then they're worth a look for those who are interested in a .223 carbine but don't want to go the AR route.

Or if ARs are unavailable.

Candiru,

Good review! I sure wish they wern't so expensive now. I'd love to add a 16 inch 'tactical' to my setup. I've owned several Minis but not the new ones.

You are right, great review. I do enjoy nutnfancy's reviews, but really liked the education you gave us on the different parts of the mini 14 operating system and how they compare to m14 and m1.

Thanks,

John
