Hi, took my ruger out to the range today for some Rememberance day shooting and started to have problems.
It is a Ruger mkiii, competition target model, 6 7/8 slab side barrel. I have only had it for about two months but have put at least 5000 rnds through it without problems until today.
What is happening is the bolt doesn't stay back after the last shot. I does however stay back if I pull it back by hand with an empty mag is in it. It seems strange to me, I would put a full mag in, shoot al ten, and have the bolt forward, if I then pulled it back by hand it would stay back. I'm not sure why but it would make more sense to me if it wouldn't stay back at all.
I took it apart when I got home and it seemed ok, when an empty mag goes in the bolt stop goes up, and the bolt stays back if I pull it back. I did however notice that inside the bolt stop is a bit dented on the receiver side. I'm not sure what caused this, I don't use the bolt stop lever to release the bolt, I pull it back, and I clean my pistol after every trip to the range.
Any ideas or help would be greatly welcomed.
