Well I’ve owned a new MKIV for about 3 wks.now and I must say that it’s quite a nice gun. I own guns from the whole MK series and after the MKIII series I thought things were pretty much over for that series of pistols. Well Ruger has turned things around for themselves and again turning out a credible product. They still come with the lawyer trigger but that’s an easy fix and a given when you purchase a gun that young ones are bound to be handling. So having already many series 1,2,and 3 pistols I had barrels, frames, and materials covered I went for the new 10” Target model and I’m liking it. It’s not often that a gun company turns a product that went a little sour around into a sweet to own product. This won’t steel the spot I have in my heart for the MKI 6 7/8” Heavy Tapered Barrel Target Model I own but it’s welcomed to be it’s companion.

I really like mine, I added the Tandemkross flat trigger and am happy with the trigger now, I was goin got install the volquartsen kit but decided not to after putting in just the tandemkross trigger. Mine is the Tactical, removed the bottom rail under the barrel. 92F3A20B-6B5E-450A-8BCC-B62D03B45320.jpeg

I know what you mean. I started with a stainless 6 7/8 Mk II government Target years ago, then added a 5 1/2 Target in blue, then a Mk IV Hunter (glad I waited for the abomination they called the Mk III to get replaced), and now I also own a 10" stainless Mk IV. Really loving that one. All 4 are heading for a range trip together once the 10" gets the Vortex Venom I've got planned for her.

The Ruger Mark series has gotten progressively better, but at the same progressively more in need of customization. The Mark IV is the apex of this. There is a whole bunch of things you need to do (beginning with ditching the magazine disconnect) to have the pistol live up to its full potential.

I have the tandemkross blast shield coming for mine to eliminate the magazine disconnect and hopefully keep the internals shielded from debris, it gets plenty dirty inside the magazine well and around the trigger from the suppressor. We’ll see if it works as advertised, if not it will still eliminate the annoying magazine safety.

Congrats to the OP on his fine new Ruger!

I am happy with my Standard. The newest ones must be amazing. :)

I have been a huge fan of the Mk.II 5 1/2" bull barrel model for as long as I can remember. Always felt it was just the right length and weight to balance the gun perfectly in my hand.

Oh and I think I speak for all of us here when I say it's time for some photos of your new Mk.IV 10" Target Model!

The Mk IV is on my list for sure. I thought I had sworn off .22 handguns, but a longer barrel IV would make for a nice hiking plinker around the cabin.

That is a wonderful picture! :)
And does the fine MKIV a great compliment!

I hope you enjoy it as much as I do my MKIII and MKII.

May I suggest the McFadden speed loader, as a great companion to your pistol? I love mine, and makes having dozens of magazines for the range nearly unnecessary.

Many happy rounds to you!

Now that's a fine looking Mk.IV, even if the barrel is in another ZIP CODE from the rest of the gun! Eagerly awaiting your first range report!
