Ruger p series 9mm question

The 10 round mags are meant for states that don't allow hi cap mags, but both the 10 and 15 rounders will fit into every P95.

Thank you guys, its been bothering me for a bit of time. Also what do you guys think about 319 for a nib p95 decocker only model?

I've never had a problem with my P95D. It has been my goto for for annual LEOSA qualifications.

Would you ever carry it though? I'm trying to find a handgun thats good for many things I'd like to one day after getting my ccw to carry it.

For a good all-round carry and range gun in the same price range I'd look into the S&W 6906: fits the bill on all counts, I love mine. CDNN still has trade-ins for $350, I believe.

Both my wife and I own Ruger P95DCs. Hers is blue, mine is stainless. We have both carried them for CCW. Like any similarly-sized gun, you have to dress according to what conceals it the best for you.

Both are early versions of the P95, the later versions are even nicer. Neither of ours has failed to feed, fire, and hit what we are shooting at. :)

Must be a left over from the Clinton years. The guns sold then, I had one, had a plastic spacer under the bottom of the mag and only held 10 rounds. I had aftermarket mags that held 15 rounds flush fit. No longer have that gun, but it was a reliable, decent shooter. New ones should be sold with the 15 round mags now that it's legal. I'm betting that one is from a stock of left overs from the Clinton years.

The P95 is a nice little shooter:) My buddy picked on up LNIB with 5 10 round mags for a reasonable price. I'm a little more partial to my chunky P89, but the 95 hangs right in there.

I would say the P95 is certainly more carry-friendly than the bigger/heavier P89. It wouldn't be my first pick as a carry gun, but I would feel no problems packing it if it were my only gun. A 15+1 9mm that can digest any ammo you put in it, is accurate enough, reliable to a fault, AND didn't break the bank? Good medicine:)

Thanks guy you really have made me confident in this. I feel as tho if I had more money to spend I'd still want this handgun idk why but something about it makes me like it.

The P95 is a great pistol for car/night stand/home defense. Highly reliable, tough as nail, and cheap. If you will carry it, however, just be aware that its weak point is the mag release. It's a thumb-push-forward release system and requires very little pressure to drop the mag. It potentially can get snagged when drawing the pistol, accidentally releasing the mag. Very bad if you're in a split second life-or-death situation.

Is there anyway to fix this, I also see your on your 999th post.

I don't see any way to fix it as there are generally very few after marker parts for Ruger pistols (well, when you compare them to, say, Glock).

However, keep in mind that I am a lefty when it comes to pistols. The ambi mag release is one of the things I like about my P89. Also, every pistol that I carry has the mag release facing OUT due to this. While I won't say it doesn't ever happen, I have never had the release accidentally depressed enough to loosen a magazine. well, except one time with my LCP, but that has to do with it being in my back pocket. You aren't going to pocket carry a P95:D

Then again, I have never drawn under pressure. However, I think a good holster could potentially solve that. I make my own holsters (which are hideous but effective), and I generally reinforce the throat just enough to capture the mag release enough that i shouldn't get bumped hard enough to depress it. I dunno if it actually works, but like I said, I've never accidentally dropped a mag.

How do you make your own holsters, I'm betting that saves quite a bit of money. I will remember to not boff up the mag release.

You do realize this is pure internet rumor mongering? Besides the P95 is designed to have that type of release so you couldn't swap it out with a push type anyway. All you could really do is file it down, which would be silly.

Hmm perhaps it is just a bunch of rumors but, what I do know is that I held one today the one that is to be mine and it made me smile. I held a Smith and Wesson something or other around the same price and I just didn't like how light it was.

Good, bad and ugly. Built like a brick outhouse and reliable low amount of recoil in 9mm and easy on maintenance, will eat any ammo you want to use without a hiccup.

This one's in 45 ACP.

I've got the p95 and have not had any trouble with it. Shoots good and accurate. Easy to take down and clean. 15 round factory mags go on sale at Midway USA from time to time too :)
