Wondering if any of the Ruger P-series .40's have anything larger than 10-shot capacity? Seems a waste since their carbines take the same mags...

Thanks!

If you can find P-91 magazines they hold 11. I saw a dealer advertising the carbines for sale over at www.rugerforum.com a while back. He said he had some 12 round law enforcement magazines for sale. Sometimes the P-91 mags can be found at CDNN. I'd just dig around online for them. I've got one of the P-91 ones I got for 15.00 from a guy on a local forum. If you want more info on these guns I'd suggest digging around on either one of the Rugerforums.

When I first bought my P89, I went shooting with a friend that had a Ruger P94 and we commented on the magazines looked identical. Well, we swapped magazines and I discoved that his P94 mag worked just fine in my P89. That was great because a 10 shot P94 mag holds 12 9mm's. Well, later, when the high capacity ban was lifted, I bought a 30 round magazine for the P89.

Fast forward to today, and I have a PC4 carbine. I was disappointed to find that it does not function properly with anything besides factory Ruger magazines, and it will jam with the 30 round P89 mag, or just about any other 9mm magazine I put in it. So, to answer Plink's question, if it isn't made by Ruger itself, it's not likely to work.

If you get a pre-ban magazine for a .40 caliber P-91 it can. If you can find a magazine made for law enforcement use during the ban I think you can get a 12 rounder. I have not seen a 12 round one but a dealer did have them for sale with the carbines at rugerforum.
All of the Ruger P-series models magazines are interchangeable with other Ruger P-series guns of the same caliber except for maybe some of the earliest P-85's. I think there was some difference in them.
The higher capacity magazines may take more work to find than the 10 round ones but they are around. Sometimes they pop up in the classifieds at rugerforum.com

I have heard good things about the MecGar mags for the 9mm P-series though I have never used them. The only one I've seen make aftermarket mags for the .40 caliber Rugers is ProMag. I have never used ProMag but I have read so many bad posts about them I never will.
I would trust Ruger mags the most.

I think mec-gar only makes 9mm p series mags. They have 17 rounders that are flush fit. I would you could file or open up the feedlips a tad on those mags to mag them feed 40 cal ammo. You would probably get about 12 rounds of 40 in them. Mark

Too bad MecGar doesn't do Ruger .40's , they make all the new CZ mags and they have a .40 with 15 or 16 I believe.

That CZ-75B in .40 was one of those 'wish I had needed it' sales in my experience. Just couldn't justify having the money tied up in it when I already had a .45 and a Tokarev gun...

I saw a 9mm Ruger carbine just this weekend at the gun range. Well, A gun range.
