answered question at TFL...let me go back and copy it here...
ok...
Only thing that ever happened, was with my KP944D .40...the captured recoil spring "uncaptured" itself when I was taking the gun apart...so now I just have a separate spring and guide rod assembly like some of my other guns when field stripping it. Doesn't affect function at all, and I actually don't care one way or another
The only problem I've ever had with a P-series was when I forgot to clean real good under the extractor of my P95. It jammed. As soon as I did a cleaning, it went back to it's old reliable self!!
No problems with my P89 or P97!!
Seen a mag release on a BRAND NEW p90dc break in like 10 minutes, however this was back when they were first released. Never owned a ruger handgun, have a mini14 and a 10'22, both run flawless.
I've owned my P89 for about 7 years - got it used, have had ZERO problems. I bought my P90 in November of 2007 - also got it used. Had some problems initially because the extractor was bent. Ruger sent me another one for free - except for one misfeed (bad ammo), it has been trouble free after that.
I have had my P90 for something like 12 years now, and it is the most dead nuts reliable pistol I own. I have said many times here on THR that if I had to choose one pistol to go to war with, it would be that pistol. I don't know that I could trust a pistol anymore than I trust that P90.
