Ruger P345D Owners... is your right decocker lever loose?

I was looking at a Ruger P345D (Decock only). It has a decocking lever on either side. The left side is nice and tight but the right side (where the hole is for the lock) wiggles in place and can be moved in and out slightly. (Function is OK).

If you shake the gun you can hear it rattle. I called Ruger and they looked at one they had and it seemed the same. (It rattled too!)

Is that normal? I suppose it has nothing to do with safety or performance. I just wonder if all of these Rugers are like this.

Anyone with one of these newer Rugers want to comment?

FWIW - serial number was 15xxxxx (something or other) I think.

Thanks JohnKSa!

I guess that must be normal for a Ruger then. I have never owned a Ruger so I wasn't sure if that was normal or not. Otherwise it looks like a very nice gun.

If you ever take one apart, you'll see why they're loose. The left lever is actually what's doing the work. The right lever is sort of a "parasite", for lack of a better term. I wish that you could buy a plug to fit on the right side in place of the lever...

That's almost exactly what the guy at Ruger said. Since I am right handed, I don't need that lever anyway. When something flops around and rattles it just makes me feel a bit uncomfortable. I am glad to know it does not affect function.

Thanks!

Well, you could grind off the lever and leave the "axle" in place, but if you simply remove the lever, you're going to have a big hole in the side of the slide. I don't think it retains any parts or is necessary for the function of the firearm but I can't swear to it.

gun rattles when shaken

i also have a ruger p345d that when u shake it will make a rattling noise....never had a handgun do that i have a few so i took it to a couple of gunsmiths and said it was safe to shoot.
one actually told me what it was the firing pin spring making the noise he said to shoot it and get some dirt in there and it would stop. never knew if it would fix the problem cause a few weeks after that i stripped the gun to clean it and i put in the magazine and it wouldn't come out,so i took it to the gun shop where i picked up the gun because i bought it from gallery of guns on the internet and that place replaces your gun if they have one in stock...so i got a new one:) and i havent heard any noices or anything loose on the new one yet.
thanks,
jeff
