Was at my local gun shop this afternoon & they have a used P90 that looked in pretty good shape - priced at $250. I wouldn't mind a additional HD handgun & don't own a .45acp. How are these? Seemed to be priced right. Thanks

ps - At the top of my list, if I was purchasing NIB, is a Stoeger Cougar 8045 ($419)

I have an older early production Ruger P90 with the 7 round magazines, bought it when they 1st came out. It not a great looking pistol but I keep it because it is very reliable and very accurate.

I did two things to mine. The stock grips really sucked on my P90. Hogue grips are a big improvement.

The stock P90 uses a 11 pound recoil spring. Muzzle flip is a bit much for my taste with the 11# recoil spring. I changed mine out to a Wolff 14# recoil spring this seem to help muzzle flip a fair amount.

$250 on a good P90 is a good price. They are accurate, reliable and smooth shooting. I'd jump on it these parts...but guns are a little higher here.

Very good.

The P90 is very accurate and as reliable as they come. It is, as is often said, "built like a tank". While it's often overlooked, it is one of the outstanding .45's. It is heavy and big (there's no denying that) and it seems most folks find them to be ugly, but I have always liked the looks of the metal framed P Series pistols quite a lot.

Mine is a keeper. When I get an itch to trade and I look through my pistol vault I look at the P90 and always say to myself "no way".

Excellent guns. I've owned one for over 12 years now. It has never failed. I, too, added Pachmayr grips for a better feel.

Own a KP97DC, and a KP345, as well. The guns are supposedly "ugly", but, compared to the Glock, I cannot see why.

The P90 has acquired a very good reputation over the years. They are large and a little clunky, but are very reliable and accurate. I have handled, but do not own a P90. I have a P97 that has been as reliable as dirt and plenty accurate. I've shot several IDPA and IPSC matches with it and it has done just fine swallowing New Mexico dust and dirt. The P-series pistols are a bit "thick" to conceal -- I keep my P97 in the safe by the bed for a "house" gun.

I owned two of them over the years and liked them both, but my favorite was a decocker model.

Very good solid and reliable pistols with decent accuracy. They are really soft shooters for a .45, with their high bore-axis that gives them a rolling recoil and their size the felt-recoil is very manageable. They were great for letting a beginner or a novice shoot a .45, most of them hated shooting 1911s and were scared of them but just loved to shoot the P90 and always wanted to put a few more rounds through them.

Nothing fancy but a nice workhorse type of a pistol that always goes bang when the trigger is pulled.

You can add me to the list of satisfied P90 owners. I too, prefer the Hogue grips versus the factory panels. Sounds like a very good deal to me.

I've got one. It's my car gun. Very good, very accurate, very reliable. There's not much to not like about it other than the fact that it's big and ugly.

Accurate, 100 percent reliable with ANYTHING i've ever fed it (even an empty case, though that one didn't fire), built to last forever, only 33 ounces empty. Yes, you might say I like this gun. I've shot a lot of matches with it and won a few. There are few service grade autoloaders that can match the accuracy and reliability. For 250 bucks, you're CRAZY if you pass on it. I'd buy it and I already have one. :D

BTW, I've ordered a "Beltster" for mine. I really don't carry belt guns much except in cooler months, prefer pocket carry, but the P90 is lighter than a full size steel frame 1911. Its weight is in its slide. The receiver is aluminum. It carries well in a good rig, but requires a loose vest or a hawaiian style shirt to cover it, something baggy, as does about anything full size that I belt carry.

It's one of the guns I keep in different places around the house
for SD---loaded with glasers & hydra-shoks.
It's a great .45...................
