the p90 is the 45ACP right? which of the p series is a 9mm? i was lookin at that pic and kinda startin to want somethin better than my jininez JA9....that was free lol.

generally about 400 new for the Ruger?

...what mags do they have available, i think it would be pretty fun to shoot off 30+rds before a reload, past experience is single action revolver only though and i only had the JA9 9 days

wow just looked at Rugers site....really like the P95......393-424 bucks too! whats the difference between the silver and black models though?

I have had my P90 for close to 15 years or so, and it has been absolutely fantastic. I cannot say enough good things about this pistol. It is big, it is ugly, but it works extremely well. Mine will feed just about anything I put in it.

Silver - stainless steel
Black - blued steel

i bought mine about a year ago and love it. if you have a big belly like me it is rather easy to conceal. i put th ehogue grip on mine and my accuracy increased alot. but i do not like how low my hand sits on it and i am considering grind some of the trigger gaurd down. but love the gun.

Love mine - I shoot almost nothing but +P level handloads in it, and I don't think it'll ever stop. I also have no problem carrying it concealed A-IWB.

I've owned a number of .45 ACP semiautos over the last 20+ years, and the P90 is the only one that I've kept.

I've told this story a few times now.
My dad purchased an Ed Brown custom 1911 for about $2500. We met up and went shooting. I had a Ruger P90. The P90 shot more accurate in both our hands, than the Ed Brown. My dad gave me $350 for my P90 and sold his Ed brown. He said it was a no brainer.

I know many people who would disagree with him as the Ed Brown had some nice grips on it. Very good looking gun.
But, my dad wanted a shooter for range and home defense. He did not need a BBQ gun. And my dad was not into owning alot of guns. just a few. The P90 performed better (read no jams and accuracy) than the Ed Brown. So, that's what he wanted and that's what he got.

This was 10 years ago.
We went shooting 3 weeks ago.
That same P90 still shoots as accurate as ever and he has only had 2 jams in it. About 3 years ago I replaced the recoil spring for him as the OEM spring was suspect in the jams. He has not had a problem since.

Just a really great gun!

p.s. one side note to those replacing sights on the P series pistols. Please be sure to NOT overtighten the rear sight's screw. use a drop of locktite. Overtightening has caused the screw to impede the firing pin's movement. I have other people who have told me that they had to replace the mag catch spring (as mentioned already) as well.
These are easy things to fix and do not warrant not buying the gun.
What a great value at $349. I think you're going to like this gun.

The main thing that keeps me away from Ruger centerfire autos is the creepy trigger. as you squeeze, it's eek....eek...eek..............bang. Glock triggers are gooey, but they're also smooth and consistent.

My P90 has a lighter, smoother DA than either my current P85 or the P95 I traded some time back. The SA is crisper, too, no perceptible creep and let off at about 6 lbs which, to me, is not excessive in a service pistol. Both my 9x19 P guns have some gritty creep in the single action and are stiffer and not as smooth in DA mode.

In addition, my two 9x19s don't seem to transition from DA to SA as smoothly as does the P90. I'm not sure why, but the P90 really has a nice trigger. The frame is a little wider, maybe the dimensions are different on the action/sear? Anyway, I agree that my P85 isn't a stellar quality trigger, but the P90 is very nice and I much prefer it for carry or match use. Shot both a lot in IDPA. Only reason I tended toward the 9s is the tapered mag that seemed to reload a lot smoother without catching on the mag well so bad. If I have a criticism of the P90, it's that it looks to be rather hard to bevel that mag well. I've never asked a smith about it, though. Reloads with it have cost me some time in IDPA, though I was able to qualify expert finally, after much practice, with it.

I've won enough local shoots with that thing to pay for it three times over, the only firearm I have that's paid for itself. :D I used to shoot with a gun club up the road that had money shoots. I made more money doing that than I ever did in flat track motorcycle racing. Hell, I usually just paid for gas and expenses if I was lucky with the flat tracker. And, I got a lot more beat up doing that, too.
