I just ordered a 1911 from CDNN and it came with a new catalog. I was drawn to the front cover where they have the Ruger P95DC on sale for $249. It's a 9mm, NIB, and comes with two 15rnd mags.

How good of a deal is this? Looked like a very good price. Should I jump on it?

I can't tell you about the p-95dc, but I'll tell you about my p-85 experiance. It shot low all of the time. The sights were poor at best, and the hammer would move when it was on "safe" (it ain't supposed to do that). It never jammed. It had little recoil, but I had to trade it, plus $100 for my G-17. I never looked back.

I've been looking into these pretty heavily for the past few days, and there seems to be a lot of people out there with very positive experiences with this gun. I know budsgunshop has them for 300 (shipping included) but I might have to look into CDNN if i decide to get one. Do a little searching on here and you should be able to come up with all kinds of different opinions.

Had one. Shot great. Don't try to CCW it unless you are 6'6". Traded mine off because I wanted something different. Overall very nice and reliable gun. If it will fit in the chamber, it will shoot it and ask for more. Definitely would recommend it to someone on a budget.

Should I jump on it?

If that's what you want, yeah. I'm guessing the P95 is the next of the P series to get discontinued.

Hi, your photo is I believe actually a P-89...

Nope. It's the new version of the P-95. Note the rail, and the rounded trigger guard.

The P95 in the picture has the safety, the P95DC (decocker) has no safety, which I prefer....mine is a flawless shooter

Yep. P-95PR.

Nice pistol. Very rugged and reliable. Gave mine away (still in the family) to make room for a SR9.

Oh yeah, for that price, grab it.

I have a P95DC. It has been a great gun for me. Never a problem. mine shoots straight and the recoil is good. I use Wolf mostly nowadays. It is dirty, but the gun shoots everytime and is accurate. I shoot about 100-150 rounds every other week. I think I would jump on it. It is scheduled to be discontinued.

If it is new for that price I would definitely buy it. I have an older model and except for the mushy trigger it is excellent. Very accurate and a real workhorse. Magazines are a little painful to load though.

I had a P-95 and sold it. It was a solid, reliable gun but the accuracy wasn't very good.
I just picked up an M&P a few weeks ago. After only about two mags through it I'm arleady outshooting that Ruger, and I burned up a lot of ammo trying to "fix" myself with that gun.
But for the $249, if you need a reliable 9mm, I'd say try it.
I've dealt with CDNN before and they tend to have a No BS policy to making things right.

I own the pictured pistol, a P95PR15, that's handgun purchase number 7 for me.

Out of the box... nothing but failures to eject with every commercial load I could afford to try. I had to sent it back to Ruger for repairs, and 6 long weeks later Ruger sent it back to me in perfect working order. Now, 500 + rounds wiser it's become my old reliable truck gun...

The gun is a bulky and the bore axis is higher than any other pistol I own, but it works perfectly now with any ammo and I'm 100% confident that it will continue to work forever. It's not my favorite handgun (my FNP-9 and my SP101 are competing for that title) but it is one that I know I can rely on should the SHTF.

I don't think you can go wrong for the price.

Got one a few years back for $230 ANIB with a Bianchi gun rug so I'd say it's a good deal. Mine is fairly accurate and it's reliable.

According to those "in the know" at Rugerforum.com, the P95 is slated to be discontinued in mid-2008, along with the P89. Apparently, Ruger is phasing out the P-Series pistols in favor of the DAO striker-fired route, which I find to be a shame.

I agree. If Ruger goes into producing autos only in DAO/striker, my days of being a Ruger fan are over.

I will never own a DAO. I do not like them. Not one bit.

However, Ruger made the only "plastic pistol" I found worthy - my P97DC .45acp.
