there was an old thread about this a few weeks ago that was closed, and in it there was discussion about whether it might eventually take multiple calibers. I was watching some reviews about it tonight, and the military arms channel guy was taking it apart and noticed it has a removable bolt face. I'm thinking there is real aftermarket potential here even if ruger never releases anything. link to pertinent part of disassembly.

in other news, anybody who actually bought one want to chime in on how they like it? should I be looking to sell my scorpion carbine?

I like mine. You could change caliber by replacing:

Barrel
Bolt Face
Extractor
Mag well insert, which includes Ejector
Dead weight (the 9mm version is labeled "1". Makes me think that they are planning on adding others.)

It looks, at least to me, that this thing has been engineered to accept caliber conversions.

I'm curious to see some more accuracy testing. I'm pretty cold on the design and looks, but if they really are as accurate as some of the reports I could get interested.

It doesn't look like there is space to put a larger dead weight in there, but the current dead weight does have 10 holes drilled in it. I guess Ruger could increase the mass of the deadbolt by creating a weight with no holes in it.

Don't sell the Scorpion! Keep it, get the Ruger and give us a side by side range report. Please!

Dont hold your breath waiting for that review from me. I'm a nurse with 1 year old and a 2 year old. My gun purchases are few a d far between these days, and usually I have to sell one to buy one. I try to think of it as quality over quantity instead of thinking g of how much I have spent on diapers and toys that sing at you when you step on them at night......

Now, if you send me a pic carbine I'd be more than happy to give you my report. I'll tell you what I can right now, I have tweaked my scorpion and fixed the aweful trigger pull and safety, replaced the grip with one that actually fits the human hand ok, and now it is a decent shooter. Runs like a top, never misses a beat. Desperately needs to become an sbr. I will probably sell it and buy the pistol version and add the gear head tailhook brace. It just seems easier than fooling with an actual sbr. The ruger carbine I handled in the store had a better trigger, better ergos, but felt muzzle heavy, and that is before you hang a can off the end. And the forend rail segment, the rear angled stick mags, as well as the takedown aspect make the gun look funny to me.

I had to try. :)

I'm on the other end of child raising with the youngest out of 4 being 18. Cars, insurance, college, arrrrgh. But, I didn't have to pay Uncle Sam this year, so I got to pick one gun for 2018.

I was so close to buying a Scorpion myself, my funds just didn't go up that high this year.

Regarding the Ruger PCC's factory trigger, it sure seems it is a rarity compared to all the other pistol caliber carbines out there.

That was one of the disappointing things for me about the CZ. A member here announced that it was going to be imported to the U.S. and I was super excited because there was a dearth of PCCs at the time. But then when it became available it was going for over 1K and it had a crummy trigger.

I mean, for over a thousand bucks they should be able to ship that thing with a good trigger.

I found my scorpion used for 575. As far as the trigger goes, there is a guy need Dan t over on the cz forum that posted on how to fix the trigger with shims. I made my shims out of a 308 case. Between the shims and the hbi trigger spring I got my trigger to feel better than a stock AR trigger. It's not amazing, but comparatively.......

Any word if the pc carbine is ok with +p+ ammo, such as Buffalo bore penetrator?
