Until recently, before the Super Blackhawk came out .44 mag could also be had in Blackhawks.
That's right. That's the 'until recently' to which I was referring.Until the 50th Ann model in '06/'07, the last .44 magnum BH was in 1962, not exactly "recent".
Actually the newer Super Blackhawks with the rounded trigger guard have the same size frame as the Blackhawks but with steel in stead of aluminum alloy frame. The exception is the stainless Blackhawks which have steel frames too. As noted the Supers are .44 Mag and the Blackhawks in .357, .41 mag and .45 Colt.
What is a standard BH?This newer one was also built on a completely different frame than the standard BHs.
Try to follow along. "Until recently" was referring to the ones started being made the past couple of years as BH73 mentioned. Prior to that was the SBH. Then prior to the SBH were the BHs which could be had in .44 mag.47 years is not recently
I assume you mean "grip frame" and not "frame"
The Super Blackhawk (SBH) has a larger frame than the NMBH, can have dragoon or round trigger guard and is 44mag only. Comes in several barrel lengths. Many have been modified so you can just about any combination of parts.
The New Model Blackhawk (NMBH) comes in several calibers including 44 mag. I would not call it a small frame but it is smaller the the SBH
What is a standard BH?
Are you refering to the old models? The NMBH is a different frame than the original BH, but you don't see many around. They have become too collectible.
