I picked up a new Security 9 on January 5th and after shooting just over 100 rounds through it, I noticed the rear frame pin was walking out to the left. I pushed it back in and after a couple of more magazines it started coming out again.
I called Ruger and they asked if I would send it back so that they could have a look at it. They sent a shipping label and repair form.
It just arrived and is waiting for me to open it.

I am totally confused. They send you a brand new defective pistol and you are celebrating its return? :scrutiny:

I bought a new gun and after shooting it, discovered that the rear frame pin was coming out to the left. It was only coming out about 1/4 inch.
When I called they told me that since it was a new model gun, they wanted to have a look at it to see if it was the pin or something else.
The work order states that they replaced the rear frame pin and test fired and that the gun was good to go.
So in a nutshell, small problem with new gun, factory paid for shipping, repaired, tested and returned 5he gun.
Now I can shoot it some more.

Hey, they sent Gunny a cleaning cloth from his trouble!

It’s nice that they sent something, but an extra magazine or something a bit nicer would have been really nice.

Gunny, can you keep us posted on this? I don’t know about others, but I’d like to hear how this gun is after the fixes, and after you put a bunch of rounds through it.

I’m going to try and put a hundred rounds through it tomorrow.
I put 115 through it before I sent it in and they fired 75, so a total of 190 so far.

I am just poking fun. Actually I am interested in how these things run. I they prove reliable they are perfect get home bag/truck guns. Standard capacity 2 mags for under $300. If the trigger isn't crap an they run they should be a hit.

Cant wait to hear how it is after the next 100 rds.I got my fingers crossed for you .

Been pretty busy at work today and haven't had much time to play with the Security 9, but I did run two mags, 30 round, through it. 15 rounds of mixed ball and 15 rounds of mixed hollow points, some +P.
Here's a pic of the HP's I just shot. No malfunctions. and the frame pin is staying in place.

looks like a fine shooter. Ruger's budget guns aren't just good for the money, they seem to just be good that doesn't cost a ton. I've been pretty impressed with the build quality of the EC9S I just picked up. In the sub-$300 range, Ruger is nailing it without going cheap.

Didn't you read the whole post?!
He got a complimentary cleaning cloth too.

I was hoping for an extra magazine. :(

The one time I sent a gun in to Ruger they sent me a sticker when it came back. I still have it stashed as I will not put a firearms sticker on my vehicle. It is a cool looking sticker though. I think you did okay on the cleaning cloth. Ruger customer service is A okay in my book. Paying shipping both ways & resolving a problem. I have read some horror stories about some other manufacturers on the forum boards.

What's your impressions of the trigger and the sights?
I got to handle one the other day as a Bass Pro, but the trigger lock was on the counter display.

It has a pretty good trigger. The reset is not bad and it breaks pretty clean. The sights are easy to line up.
The only thing I don’t like about it is the border around the slidestop. The top forward edge peaks my thumb. I wish they would have contoured the frame above the trigger guard some. I think it would have given the gun a little bit of a better look. Everyone that has handled or fired it says that they really like the grip.
All in all I’m happy with the gun. I really don’t have a roll for it, other then just another toy to play with. It would make a good truck gun.

He was just pulling on my leg. If he had put a smiley face at the end of his text. I would have joked around with him.
As was I- sometimes sarcasm and lightheartedness gets lost in translation on forums/texts/etc
