I am trying to replace the front sight on my 6" barrel Security 6. Can anyone tell me if 155-72852 is old or new series? I have looked before and appears to be old with only new series sight available. Is the cross pin the same for both seriers? I finally got the old sight out. Some PO had epoxied in a thin blade that didn't match rear sight. Anyone know a source for a sight? If force to make one does anyone know a reason not to use aluminum?
Thanks in advance,
Tim

I believe it to be the new series, as mine at #153-10xxxx.

Millett replacement front sights change above serial number 157-14152.
Aluminum is usually soft and does not wear very well. For coloring, you will need to paint or anodize it. There is a chemical, touch up, blacking solution available, but, IMO, it is not very durable.

contact Ruger and give them your serial number and tell them what you want. They might just have only laying around:D

Look at the recoil shield. If it has the rounded shield, then it's possibly an older model. The 155 prefix is the new series, I believe. Millett makes a wonderful sight (front and back), but recently I attempted to install two front sights and they were so hard my drill wouldn't bite into them. They just left marks.

Notice the back recoil shield. If it has one like this it's the
newer model. The rounded ones also can be the newer one
as well, but it's less likely. Look also at the barrel. If it's skinny,
it's most likely a newer model.

If it has the old style grips, it's definitely an old model.
