Yeah I was just looking, seams all the 1-6X also have lighted reticles that add weight.
My 308 AR has a tank of an optic Crimson Trace 1-8X 34mm tube it's great but it's heavy. I'd love to have something lighter but hate to give up magnification.

I just mounted a Leupold 1.5-4x20 with their mark AR 1 piece mount on my BCA 18" stainless heavy 6.5 grendel upper. I think I'm going to like this combo for mid range deer.

The SWFA 2.5-10x32 would be a good match for this rifle.
1" tube and 9 oz, with a LW mount you'd be under a pound for scope and mount.

It wasn't bad...the Australian Outback is a little hotter than other .308 rounds I shoot, but in the SFAR it wasn't unpleasant (It definitely gets your attention in my Howa 1500), and the PMC ball was a pussycat.

I didn’t ask his entire life story, but he’d sold a masonry business before he retired which blessed him with two new knees a handful of years ago, and he partners cattle with a cousin of mine - which we hadn’t previously realized until we chatted on our run. We’d kinda known “of” eachother for a few decades but hadn’t really spoken much together previously - kinda interesting to find that connection. My cousin’s dad, one of MY cattle partners, is 74 or 73 this season, and saddles 4 horses every morning for his day of work, operating one of the largest bucking stock herds in North America… he did slow down a bit after his brother dropped a loader bucket on him and broke his back when he was 65 or 66… Some folks just seem to find excuses to keep moving.

Why get political? I never once said citizens shouldn’t own them, just mentioned it would be good for LEOs.

Interesting gun; wasn't aware of it before this thread. I like the concept, but I don't want a .308. Something in 6.5/.264 maybe ... or even a 6mm.

It’s sad we live in a world where people will automatically try and look to be offended when no offense was ever put forth...

I'm sure Ruger could sell a boatload of them in 6.5 CM and .243. I'm a 7mm-08 and 338 Federal fan but they seem to by dying cartridges so not much hope for those.

In order for Ruger to expand the SFAR range to other popular calibers, the OG 7.62 version needs to sell well enough to justify the additional development and tooling costs.

In the meantime, it should be easy enough for established barrel makers to offer a 6.5 Creedmore barrel and barrel extension that would be compatible with the SFAR upper receiver.

    I would strongly consider a 6.5CM or 7-08 version.

A little late but this is a three shot group offhand with a Trijicon 1x8 at 100 yards using military surplus. If you do your part the rifle looks accurate. IMG-0381.jpg

I think it will be an easy thing for Ruger to add other uppers. I’d be vet interested in something like 6.5CM or .243.

AR-10’s are not as standardized as AR-15’s, especially the SFAR as it is on a very AR-15 scale.

I don’t know that 5” spread is not that impressive…

Just got my rifle on Saturday and the scope and mount came in today. I put an Athlon Helos BTR Gen 2 1-10-28 on a Leupold mount.

    BF693BD3-AE69-4557-B267-E16BCC2CD1F4.jpeg

I saw a lot of good reviews on this scope. And I really like the sight picture.

Gonna try and get it sighted in this weekend. Looking to sight it in at 50’.

I have a few different factory ammo I’m gonna try.

ETA: a few first impressions before shooting:

    1. It is really light! Even my arthritic arm and shoulder joints can deal with it. Much better than my last .308 auto rifle.

    2. Trigger is pretty light. I’m used to cleaned up mil spec triggers…this one is much lighter than my ALG triggers. Gotta watch that…

    3. Upper and lower seem to fit tight and seamless…

Don’t know what else to say…shooting it is what really matters….

So sorry that group offends you, I never claimed to be a sniper. Where's your offhand group?

My bad I didn't realize this was offhand that's good for offhand and I thought the one at the top was a sighter, hence the ";)". Now that I re-read your post I clearly see offhand.

Guess i stepped in that one.

Took the SFAR to the range today. Didn’t have a lot of time and just wanted to get the scope on paper and see how I liked it. Honestly did not like it at all. Brought it back to BPS and will find something else. But the gun shot fine for the 20 or so rounds I put through it.
