I picked up a Ruger Speed Six 9mm in SS a few weeks back and all I have to say is WOW!.

This gun feels like it was made for my hand and is not too big or too little. It is very accrate and doesn't kick very badly either. Since it is a 9mm, the ammo is dirt cheap and more powerful than .38spl. It is neat to be able to shoot a revolver in a caliber that is potent for very cheap. If I were to shoot .38+Ps or .357 loads, it would cost me much money unless I reloaded them. The nice thing is, you can shoot it with moon clips because it headspaces on the chamber, you can't use the ejector rod to extract the empties but if you don't have moon clips, it is a handy feature.

It was in excellent condition with the orginal grips. I probably paid too much but since I have been looking for one for quite some time and it was just what I wanted (SS with the 2 3/4" bbl), I jumped on it. I paid $450 but that seems to be the going rate around here if you can even find one! Why doesn't anyone make a 9mm revolver any more?

I need some moon clips for it, where is a good place to get them?

I also own a Speed Six but in .357 with a 4" barrel. I agree that they are very nice guns. Mine's 28-years-old and still locks up as tight as some of the newer stuff in the stores.

I have a 3-inch Sp101 as well. It's one of several 5-shot revolvers I own. Even though the 101 is smaller in size, the Speed Six almost feels more comfortable for inside-the-waistband carry. I can only describe it as 'streamlined' when compared to edges of the SP101. Both revolvers are equally accurate.

If semi-autos were unlawful to own I'd probably be carrying that Speed Six for the rest of my life, though, I prefer 1911's as primary carry weapons, using 5-shot J-frames when these can't be used because of dress or other reasons.

Great find BTW!

Congrats! The 9mm Speed Sixes are nice guns. I have the blued version. I also have a 4" Security Six in .357 . These Ruger revolvers are super tough and very fun to shoot.

Glad you found one. They are getting more scarce. I am very tempted to pick up another Speed Six soon -- but I'm just not sure whether I want to get another 9mm or a .357 . Decisions, decisions. :)

albanian, congrats. I, like you, feel it fits the hand perfectly. I also have 2 speed sixes in 357 all 2 3/4 inch barrels. It is a blast to shoot. Wish I had another. I have a GP-100 that I would like to sell in order to buy a 9mm speed six. Happy shooting.
