A friend has a 4" Speed Six and I'd like to hook him up with a holster and speed loaders for an IDPA match but I only have S&W stuff. Is it compatible with K or L frame speed loaders? Holster?

edited to add: I also have speed loaders for a Colt D frame Det Spl if those might work.

Thanks

My Security Six works with HK10 speed loaders. I think any holster made for medium sized revolvers will work but I'm not shore.

It will be closest in size to the K Frame, but there are holsters and speedloaders made specifically for the Ruger Six series of guns. So the speedloaders may work, but won't be perfect.

The Ruger DA Sixes have a deeper frame than the S&W K; more like the L. A tightly-fitted holster, such as Milt Sparks, Kramer, etc., for the K may not work; some holsters on the market are not tightly fitted, and will accomodate the Rugers. I have never tried S&W speedloaders in my Rugers, so can't speculate on that.

Some K frame holsters work, some don't. Galco makes leather for the Six specifically. I use K frame speed loaders on my Six without problem, but IIRC the proper one is in fact the detective special.

I have a Speed Six I conceal during the fall and winter. It's probably a tad bulky for the hottest summer days, but it could still be concealed. Even if I don't carry it on me I always keep it close by. IMHO it's the best concealable .357 ever made.
