Went by my LGS yesterday and as soon as I walked in the door they say
we just got a revolver traded in that they were pretty sure I would want
to take a look at. I say ok, let's see it. They pull out a stainless speed six.
They didn't event have a price tag on it yet.

Now, I need another Ruger six series revolver like I need a hole in the head,
but like many of you on here, I just love these old Ruger revolvers and can't
pass them up. especailly if I can acquire them at what I consider to be a
good price.

I ask how much to take this revolver off your hands.
They reply: to you since your a long time customer, $300
I could not get my wallet out fast enough.
It was manufactured in 1983.

Sounds like your friends at your LGS know you better than you know yourself. Congrats on a nice Speed Six at a great price.

$300 bucks for that????

I hate you.

Probably couldn't touch that for under $500 around here lately.

No, it's an earlier generation. The GP100 is Ruger's "latest/greatest".
Nice score,OP. I don't even see them on Armslist but once in a rare while, and never as cheap as that. In one of our LGS's, it MIGHT go as cheap as $450. Maybe.

The speed six, service six and security six are the "better generation" Ruger
revolvers in my humble opinion. Here are a few more I own.

Yeah you're right, you really don't need any more Sixes. Next time tell your LGS to give me a call when they get another one in.

Kemper is that center left one a GP? Can't even see any drag line... that puppy looks new!!!

The bottom center revolver is the only one that is not a six series revolver.
It is a SP101 I bought when the SP revolvers first came out years ago.
It's not new, but has only been shot a handful of times. Less than 50 rounds

The revolver shown in the top left of the photograph is probably the most rare one I own. It is a blued 4" service six revolver with a round butt, which means it was mislabeled & assembled at the factory. It should have a square butt being a service six, but somehow ended up with a round butt frame.

Nice pistol.

I payed $350 for this one about ten years ago. I believe it's worth $500 now, and NO, I won't let it go for that.

I guess I don't need to tell you it's a great shooter.

Congratulations on that score!

NICE

I just bought a 4 inch Service Six for @ $499.00 I traded in a S&W model 12 I was not shooting because I have only shot a RUGER Security Six once when I was qualifying 20 years ago.

The gun I bought looks new and is still in the box. I will not shoot it till I can replace those wood stocks with a set of HOGUES, but am really looking forward to it.

They were an outstanding design.

Amen this. I have never liked the GP-100/SP 101 series. I can't say there is anything wrong with them, I just don't care for them.

$300.00 for any "Six" these days is a grab it and giggle all the way out the door price these days. Congratulations.

It's probably as old as the Ruger! :D
