Here are a pair of new frame stainless Speed-Sixes(One is chambered in .357 and the rarer one is chambered in .38 Special) and one prime example of a rare NIB old frame Speed-Six in double-action only(Hammerless trigger)and one d/a with a hammer. Here are the photos:

Yes all of the Speed Sixes, even the early ones are nice and are as tough as nails! Great revolvers!

Thanks for the trip down memory lane! Had a stainless Speed Six that was a solid, dependable performer. Use to carry it (or sometimes a 4" Security Six), during the cold weather months when I could easily conceal it under layers of a hooded sweatshirt, a down vest, and a jacket. Felt very secure with that by my side on many a backwoods hike.

My wife has a blue 2-34" Speed Six in 9mm.
I think I like it better than she does.....

Mine is from 1972 and was my duty gun. The let me buy it when I retired.

Real fond of that 357 and the memories it holds.

Very jealous of the pair. I started out as a Colt then Smith & Wesson wheelgun fan, but have gained a huge appreciation for Ruger's products past and present over the last few years. A .357 Speed Six 2 3/4 barrel is on my must buy list if i ever run across one.

Learn something everyday! Quite right.
I had never heard of the Astra Terminator before, thank you.
Though apparently, in the FDTD series, the same character favors a snubby Super Redhawk.
Right He carries a ruger super redhawk alaskan in .454 casull, a little after the initial episodes he starts using a taurus judge.

It's been kind of ridiculous, when I first saw these, they were super common, now it's very hard to find even on Gunbroker, and the prices have gone up.

I grew up shooting S&W K-frames and Ruger Security Six's. Now that I think of it, I won my first pistol match with a 6" stainless Security Six with hand loaded wad cutters. About 10 years ago the local FFL dealer I used for transfers offered me a Ruger that a client ordered and never picked up. It was a brand new in the box 4" blue Ruger Police Service Six in 357. For $200 I could not turn it down. I rounded the butt and installed Pachmayr compact grips on it that fit my hand like a glove. It shoots Remington 357 125 JHP precisely to the point of aim at 25 yards. Great gun. IMG_1447.JPG

You certainly made a wise decision to purchase your still like new heavy barrel Police Service Six that shoots like a dream! It's a "beauty" too!

By the way, this particular Service Six was manufactured in 1981.

Some folks don't know that the Security-Six was discontinued in 1985....but both the Service-Six and the Speed-Six continued in production through 1988.

My Speed Six is my go to carry gun. I love it, 1983 production. I have several other weapons I rotate in my line up. But none are as special or trusted as my Six. I have it stoked with Federal 125 JHP's (old school)

Very nice revolvers! My first gun was a 6" Security Six I think I got in 1986, when the line was being replaced by the GP100. It was just like my Dad's and I doubt I'll ever part with it. It has the Pachmayr presentation grips though, that have never worked for me. I would love smaller wooden grips like those that expose the backstrap and are rounded at the butt. Did they round off the frames of the Speed-Sixes, or can grips like that be found for my Ruger, does anyone know?

The short barrels and fixed sights on those beauties are super attractive. Everything about them really.

Yes the Speed-Sixes were shipped with the frame round butted from the factory....there were even some Service-Sixes that were mistakenly stamped on Speed-Six frames. However what some Security-Six owners had done over the years was to purchase a set of Speed-Six grips then to install them on their Security-Six revolvers-then after tracing the rounded butt end onto the frame they would carefully grind off the frame to match-because except for the round butt frame the Speed-Six grips fit onto a Security-Six....and after doing this to your Security-Six you could then install larger round-butt aftermarket Speed-Six target grips if you wanted to?
