So whatever happened to all the speculation that with Ruger introducing the American pistol the SR line of pistols would drop in price to that of the S&W Sigma or Taurus PT handguns? I'm looking and Ruger SR9's are still selling for ~400 bucks, about double the price of a PT111.

I thought SR prices were already pretty good? Not bad on the American series either though. Maybe the latter will replace the former??

Five reasons pop into my mind;

1. San Bernanda, Ca.
2. Orlando, Fl.
3. Open borders
4. No vetting of Muslim immigrants
5. Hillary Clinton

In other words supply and demand. Americans are arming themselves because they realize the Government will not. I just read a news article that how gay and lesbians are rushing to buy guns since the Orlando murders.

With all of these events and the reality that another terrorist attack will result in mass deaths I do not expect handgun prices to go down.

Buy the 9E instead. It's at about those prices and IMHO a better gun. The sights are more normal (better in my opinion) and the LCI is replace by a much less intrusive witness hole.

Honestly if not for the fact that I already have an SR9 I'd grab a 9E in a heartbeat.

I don't want the 9E, I want the SR45 and that's about $450 right now. If Ruger dropped the price of all their SR pistols $200, they'd sell more and I'd buy more.

They have the American pistol now anyway, doesn't make sense to have two lines of large size pistols with basically the same purpose.

Why would Ruger drop the price of their guns by $200? If people are buying them at the $400-$450 price range, no incentive to sell them for that much less.

Maybe Sig Sauer should charge $500 for a P226, they'd sell more.

If it was profitable they would do it. The prices today are likely the lowest we will see for a very long time.
