I have a Ruger SR 1911 Commander version and it is a good gun for the money. I have been thinking about a Springfield Range Officer 45ACP with the adjustable rear sight to use for Bullseye shooting. Wondering if anyone is using a Range Officer for Bullseye and how they like the gun.

I'm not a bullseye competitor but I shoot an SA RO. My RO was OK from the start, but I'm a little ocd so I replaced the trigger group and replaced the bushing. It's a shooter. Check out www.bullseyeforum.net. The gentlemen there recommend the RO as great pistol to begin competition with. Visit the forum you will find tons of great info.

I've been a bullseye shooter for 30 years. But I'm no longer a serious competitor and now do it just for the fun of it. I've been thinking of getting a RO for that. I think it would be a good starter gun for a beginning bullseye shooter, but probably would need some work before a Master class shooter would consider it accurate enough for competition at that level.

I really like the Bomar style sights (well, I think the RO may have actually have LPA style but pretty close) over the Novaks for a range gun.

That said, if you did get the SR1911 and ended up changing your mind there are adjustable Novaks available, but IMHO if you already know you want them just start out with the RO.

Picked up a Range Officer yesterday at my LGS, Hope to get out and try it tomorrow. The slide feels "tight" and it feels good in my hand,
