I have been back and forth on a gun to buy at a low cost 500 or less.I just saw a review on the ruger sr9 it shot 2 inch groups at 25 yards fired I think 12000 rounds without cleaning.I think i found my gun.Does anyone have any first hand experience with this gun?

Not directly the SR-9 but with the KP345PR. And it wasn't pretty! I experienced multiple defects on two seperate pistols those being, broken slide stops, a firing pin that was broken cleanly in two, an incorrectly fitted barrel, another broken slide stop, spring failure under the rear sight with no mention in the manual that this could happen when drifting the rear sight, not to mention that said rear sight CAPTURE"S two springs, firing pin block and magazine disconnect, the firing pin block spring breaking or otherwise failing renders the pistol useless...........I could go on but won't. Let me just say that the SR-9 seems to me to have the exact same rear sight arangement and if it does ....well you've been warned. Ruger's vaunted customer service was terrible and they finally refunded my money after I posted the whole story on Rugerforum.net subjecting myself to much abuse in the process. In the strongest terms possible I caution you about any review in any GUNZINE as they are to my mind mostly lies and I certainly would include the one you're talking about here. You want my two cents? Buy a CZ-75 or PO1 in 9mm and make yourself a lot happier............ P.S did I mention that both of these pistols and there defects were BOX STOCK NEW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

tblt,

I have personal experience with the SR9 (approximately 1,300 rounds through an early production gun), and I like it very much.

Run a search of "SR9" at both this forum and at www.thefiringline.com and I think you should get a very good idea of the strengths and shortcomings of the gun. Based on personal experience with this particular gun.

When all is said and done, I would not hesitate to recommend it to my buds (and have).

I've owned the SR9 for about 2 months and 1,600 rounds. It's a fine firearm for both the range and concealed carry.
