Brand new out of the box.
My Brother-in-law came up today to try out his new Ruger and he had Fiocci 9 mm 115 FMJ RN gr ammo.

Every magazine he loaded had a complete fail to eject, empty still in chamber, and/or a stovepipe fail to feed. Most were fail to eject. Tried a little lube on the gun but made no difference with Fiocci ammo.

He also had a box of Walmart FEDERAL AMMUNITION 9mm LUGER 115gr FMJ RN which there were no issues at all.

So what is the problem? Is this handgun fussy, are Fiocci weaker that they won't cycle.
Does the gun need a break-in ( shouldn't )?

Wonder if anyone else has had this issue.
I suppose this post is specific to the Ruger SR9c.
Thank you!

Never shot fiocci ammo in mine. Mainly blazer brass and Winchester. No issues to report.

I saw several threads on Fiocchi in 9 mm on another forum. Wasn't in a SR9c but other 9mm handguns and they described a similar situation. I like Fiocchi's .223. I have nothing against Fiocchi but I think I'll suggest it was the ammo to my Brother-in-law.
Going to tell him to stick with Walmart's Federal Champion and their PD ammo.
If it works, don't fix it.

Sorry for spelling Fiocchi wrong.

Shoot. And I changed my spelling to match yours figuring you were right.

The SR9s are rated +P+, so they have a stiffer recoil spring. They like stout loads. Just something to keep in mind.

That too crossed my mind during these occurrences. Not about the +P rating, which I did not know, but that the Fiocchi ammo was not "hot" enough to cycle the handgun. He wants to get some casings I gave him reloaded by a source at the gun shop. It's a 40 year reputable Mom & Pop gun shop.
I think he should get them loaded +P anyway and mention that now since you brought that up.
Still, I have read that the Fiocchi ammo velocity is in line any of the other commercial ammo out there. I think the factory taper crimp is poor on this lot of Fiocchi. Some of the brass was scorched pretty good halfway down the outside of the case, some was fine.

He does not know what is involved in handloading, and offered to buy me a set of dies to reload for him.
I didn't explain my lack of enthusiasm.
( I told him to buy a 45 auto in the first place ) .... LOL :neener:
