Looking at adding a .22 to my collection. The local shop has a standard model available. This gun has almost no finish left but it will be a shooter so I'm not concerned on that point. I would like to know about laser grips; does anyone make laser grips that work for the standard model?

Also, anything specific to look for in checking this old gun out? I am basing my thinking on the idea that these older Ruger's run forever-

Thank you

As long as the gun checks out okay mechanically I would say there's nothing wrong with getting it if the price is right. Ruger even still stocks the 9 round magazines for it for $29.95.

Just for giggles, our shop "cost" for these things was about $29 back in the fifties. Gil Hebard even had a special run made for him with target sights and a comp that sold for about $67.
Good old days, but then I was making about $1.17/hour.

I remember when I was 16 (about 1984) Montgomery Wards had them for $90 but dad wouldn't let me buy it. I got one now, though!
